    Deathless Frenzy questions?

My original post was from 2009 - 8 years ago. That's beyond the lifespan of even the most tricked out Frenzied Beserker from 3.5E days. some cool weapons, though.

Looking for a low-level "PCs are hired by NPC" type adventures

Thanks - I'm intrigued by the first adventure (I have the original Eberron book), but need to do more research to see if the schema can be adapted to outside of Eberron, or else substitute something in for schema.

Looking for a low-level "PCs are hired by NPC" type adventures

Thanks - I used to have the CD of the first 150 or 250 Dragon magazines, but I've moved several times over the years, so I no longer know where it is. :(

    The hardest wood?

Mentioned upthread, but here is the real world Ironwood, also called Ipe Wood. Overall, Ipe is a difficult wood to work, being extremely hard and dense, with high cutting resistance during sawing. Ipe also has a pronounced blunting effect on cutting edges. The wood generally planes smoothly...

Looking for a low-level "PCs are hired by NPC" type adventures

Thanks - it's low enough that it might work. You can possibly intro the NPC earlier to build up some trust.

What makes us care about combat balance in D&D?

I voted for the last choice, but I will say that it does not have to be every combat that is balanced. Just, over the course of a lengthy campaign, each PC (or, each player if there are many deaths) should have a chance to shine. I've certainly had many an individual encounter short-circuited...

Looking for a low-level "PCs are hired by NPC" type adventures

true, I understand that most players are suspicious of these things. However, I think I've built up enough credibility over the years with this group that they'd probably be surprised if the helpful NPC turned out to be the BBEG or the right hand of the BBEG. I mean, Darth Vader was a great...

Looking for a low-level "PCs are hired by NPC" type adventures

As you know, there are many low level adventures/modules out there where the players are hired by an important, and seemingly good, NPC: wealthy merchant, local nobility, etc) to go on some sort of quest – rescue his kidnapped child, recover stolen goods, retrieve some mythical item, map a...

    Paizo's RUSTY DRAGON INN

I like these sorts of miniatures - not just to stock up a tavern, but also maybe to fill out a busy town square or similar. Years back, I ran the start of Rise of the Runelords with the goblin attack in the town square. While I have a ton of miniatures, not many could represent the butcher...

    Fantastic Tomes & Librams

sounds like a great idea. I was thinking about this several years back when the players were searching for clues for a missing local nobleman (also a novice wizard). They stumbled into his study, and while the module gave a few tomes of significance to the players in the description, the...

Wanna See Some Awesome GIANTSLAYER Art?

I like the first one quite a bit, but think the tusks look a bit weird - agree with lynn above, they would have worked better in a different location. The orcs are almost too green for my tastes as well. Like the scene in the second one, but it's a bit too colorful for my tastes.

    How challenging should encounters be?

I think the best encounters are the ones where the PCs go into them thinking they're all going to die/there's no way we can win - and, in the end, the PCs pull through by the skin of their teeth through a combination of good tactics and good rolling. I had a really big group before as DM and...
