D&D 3E/3.5 Is there an active 3.0 Community somewhere?

3.0 is my favorite of the D&D D20 editions. I'd happily join if such a community existed.

    D&D 3E/3.5 Are You Still Playing D&D 3.0?

My gaming group and I have played two short-lived games of 3.0 over the last few years, and are considering trying a long-term 3.0 campaign over Zoom in the next couple of weeks. We have been playing together since AD&D2E came out, and never experienced all of the issues that some did with 3.0...

Critical Role Matt Mercer Speaks About The Wildemount Book

I am not a fan of Critical Role, and have the unpopular opinion that some of the stuff it brings to the table has actually hurt the D&D experience. I also was disappointed seeing that this book was being released and bringing Matt's setting into the realm of "official D&D cannon" (if you can...

D&D 5E Those who come from earlier editions, why are you okay with 5E healing (or are you)?

I have played with the same DM since around 1986 - So Basic, AD&D, 2E, 3E, 4E, and 5E, and we just had to figure out a way to rationalize 5E healing where it made sense to us. In our current campaign, your character gets a Lingering Injury when you drop to zero HP. Otherwise, Hit Points just...

    D&D 5E Saltmarsh - Special Officer Actions

Hi all, Quick question. Do the Special Officer Actions on p.198 (Take Aim and Full Speed Ahead) count against the number of Ship Actions per turn listed for each ship? Thank you.

Pathfinder 2E Complexity vs. Depth -- A Look Inside Pathfinder 2nd Edition

So far, I am really liking everything I am seeing with one exception. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the art seems really...simplistic.

[5E] Saltmarsh - Attacking Ship Components

I think what I was getting at is quite a simple concept overall LordEntrails. There doesn't seem to be any mechanical reason to attack the main body of a ship. Additionally, it would seem like it would be harder to target most of the components than it would to target the main body (with the...

[5E] Saltmarsh - Attacking Ship Components

Seems like (with the exception of unfurled sails) the components would be more difficult to target than the hull.

[5E] Saltmarsh - Attacking Ship Components

My point was it seems way easier to cripple a ship and not even have to worry about sinking it the way the rules are written.

[5E] Saltmarsh - Attacking Ship Components

Hi all, Just skimming through Saltmarsh, and was wondering, if you were attacking a ship with another ship, why would you ever attack/target the ships hull instead of the components? For the Galley, the Hull has AC15, 500hp, and a Damage Threshold of 20. The Oars are easier to hit (AC12)...

So is that it? (re: the setting announcements)

I have zero interest in Ravica, and not a fan of paying for the Eberron playtest material. At least for the Pathfinder 2E playtest, the PDF is free, and you get a book if you pay for something. Yeah, I know that is a set of rules and this is setting material, but still.

Ravnica: Is This The New D&D Setting? [UPDATED & CONFIRMED!]

First 5E book I have zero interest in, and will be the first I won't be buying. Very disappointed.

Pathfinder 2 Character Sheet #1: Fumbus, Goblin Alchemist

The Wayne Reynolds art is one of the huge draws of Pathfinder 2E to me.

Pathfinder 2E So I Played Pathfinder 2nd Edition! Plus UKGE Back To #3!

Thanks for the write up. I think the two parts of the article I am most excited about are: 1) "and raised my shield as my third (which you have to do to gain its AC bonus), and used a reaction to absorb 5 points of damage with my shield at a cost of one of its two "dent" points." 2) " I feel...

I will answer 10 questions about Mordenkainen's Tome

Does the first section detailing the Blood War provide enough info to run a Planescape campaign (or provide any tantalizing hints that we might see future Planescape products for 5E)?

12 new monster images revealed from Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes!

I'm not a fan of the Eladrin ears. Never was a fan of the Giff. The Abashai and tall smoke monster look great, though, and I am looking forward to the book.

Initiative Variant (Speed Factor) - actual use

The only thing I have found hard to reconcile with this system is that movement isn't really accounted for. So a character with a sword standing right next to an enemy (who gets a total of 12 for initiative), gets to attack at the same time as a character who has to move across the room to...

D&D 5E Sword & Sorcery vs. Heroic Fantasy

In a lot of Sword & Sorcery, magic is distrusted/something to be feared, and often used by the evil characters in the story rather than the hero. PCs with access to unlimited cantrips wouldn't really fit the bill in tales like that.
