DriveThruRPG quietly releases "legacy" URL for those who prefer the classic site look

Drivethrurpg doesn't have Coke money to throw away when new Coke fails. I'm 99.9% sure the new site is here to stay.

Purchased latest WFRP4e PDF release - The Hahnbrandt Militia.

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

It also can be a player expectations problem. If a GM presents their campaign as one of equal mix of combat and social interactions and players choose to either build an optimised combat or social character, if the GM then always does combat or always does social scenarios then one of those two...

What is your favorite RPG book of all time?

Hmmmmm. Shadowrun 2nd Edition. It tidied up issues with damage staging from 1st Edition. And had the ABCDE system with character creation making it quick and easy to create characters (unless you choose money as A). I played once a week for a couple of years in my Uni days, and still have find...

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

I'd think of it as a backup. Also that there are people in CR who want to create a game, the CR has the resources to make it a reality.

Discworld: Adventures in Ankh-Morpork from Modiphius Coming to Kickstarter This Year

I've been pretty happy with the games I've purchased from Modiphius, and purchased the GURPs 4E Discworld game because I love the Discworld novels and that game might have been (at the time) the only RPG of Discworld to ever be produced. So I am ecstatic to hear that Modiphius is going to make...

Should a TTRPG have a singular Core Rulebook or more?

I like boxed sets containing both Player and GM books. And dice. And doohickeys. And best not forget the ding dongs too. I guess this means I also support the option of two books.

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

Uncle Iroh’s Adventure Guide pre-order for Avatar Legends. Tribes and Tribulations pre-order for WFRP4E. I also have a couple of kickstarters starting to deliver with backer pdfs releasing, and a couple other pre-orders made last year in the post and on their way.

Uncle Iroh’s Adventure Guide Expands Avatar Legends This Fall

Ha. I originally missed the deal. Magpie were obliging in cancelling my order so I could re-order with the dice tray.

New Warhammer Old World TTRPG Announced

From some comments over on rpg.net about some comments on discord, this maybe the likely option.

New Warhammer Old World TTRPG Announced

The announced rpg is based on the remake of Warhammer Fantasy Battles called Warhammer The Old World. WFB was the game/setting WFRP 1E was based on.

New Warhammer Old World TTRPG Announced

When can I pre-order?! I'm thinking that either: This is going to be the revised edition we've been looking for, containing the changes to Advantage, Channelling etc that have been spread around the supplements. Or, this will use the system changes from Imperium Maledictum. Or, and I'm...

AI Art Removed From Upcoming Terminator RPG Book

I feel a lawsuit is coming. I think AI should not be banned from drawing AI when flesh is allowed. :p

Shadowrun 1st Edition To Be Reprinted

I’m not going to disagree with you about how you can overwhelm the opposition with larger dice pools and low target numbers to generate more successes than the opposition has in their dice pool to resist. But this was a feature, not a flaw. :)

Shadowrun 1st Edition To Be Reprinted

I played the heck out of 2E and bought any supplement that came out for it at the time. It was eminently playable and character creation was fast (a big plus as my characters for a time kept being.... "retired early").

Shadowrun 1st Edition To Be Reprinted

I think if I choose to get it it will be for nostalgia only. I still recall purchasing the 1E book and reading through it. As soon as 2E came out we switched over to it, and the major difference I recall between the two was the staging of damage going from variable to a fixed 2.

Shadowrun 1st Edition To Be Reprinted

Storyteller. But 3E really changed the combat system as @Staffan says.

Grading the Warhammer (40K, etc) System

There can be ways to do it. For IM they could use the WFRP 4E Career System and instead of "classes" have "factions" (Astra Militarum, Adeptus Mechanicus, Adeptus Administratum, Adeptus Ministorum, Adeptus Astra Telepathica, Infractionist, etc) and put restrictions on how one can jump between...

Grading the Warhammer (40K, etc) System

I like both. I like the career exit system of 2E where you have to weave yourself around various careers to get the stuff you want. But I also like how 4E has done the careers, where you can stay in one career as long as you like, climb up the ladder, or just change to whatever career you...
