Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

    Some people are just insufferable.

    Maps From Adventures

while not exactly “cheapskate,” in terms of value that 200 ft roll of one inch gridded paper cannot be beat. It should literally last you at least a decade. One of these days when I am bored I will lay out all the sections of it I have cut and used so far and measure. I acquired this (from...

Staedler broad tip FTW, but Crayola washable markers work in a pinch (and I like them b/c they are very broad and good for thick walls or coloring areas in). Staedler used to make "very broad" markers (can't recall if that was the actual size name) but I have not found one for sale anywhere...

D&D General Does anyone else title their D&D sessions?

If you ever want someone to help brainstorm more such titles, let me know. I’d be happy to try to help.

Alternatively, go ahead and use those colors (I have for 30+ years) and be sure to clean up as you go or as soon as the session is over. I find those invaluable for drawing brush or fire or green slime or magma, etc. I also use blue for water and brown for wooden structures.

Chessex wet erase battle mat (I own 4). Wet erase > Dry erase. And draw as you go. Or draw it all out ahead of time with 1” graph paper (I got a 200 ft roll - probably enough to last what time I have left in this world) and then cover up the unexplored areas with construction paper and reveal...

Stop Looking At Your Character Sheet

I agree in principle but actually wish some of my players would look at their character sheet more.

D&D General Looking for an old blog post

Your friend punches you in the face over D&D, and you're the one that has to apologize? Yeesh. I guess their being 12 explains that. Being so angry however many decades later I find harder to explain. :unsure:o_O:cool::poop:

D&D General Can I use your character for an NPC in my new market?

Thron Greenman, human druid (circle of the land, swamp). A former barrister who a decade ago fled his position when his criminal activity was discovered, escaping into the wilderness where he was taken in by a circle of druids. He eventually joined them, coming to the conclusion that his own...

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

Maybe I’ve played too much 2e and 3e, where touch attacks were a thing, but I would have required an attack roll for the touch too. Presumably the dragon was trying not to be touched (though granting advantage also makes sense to me).

D&D General How do devils actually get to the world from hell?

Yes. I was gonna say "However you want them to." But for my own current games, devils either need to use portals that are activated from the the prime material plane side or straight up ritualistically summoned, but the more powerful types can communicate with mortals through mirrors and pools...

D&D 5E (2024) Weird Potion House Rule Idea

Give out more potions that serve a utility function or last longer if used out of combat (the adrenaline and fast movement of combat processes them through your body faster). For example I am not likely to use a potion of climbing during combat but to get up to somewhere we need to...

Dungeons & Dragons Shifts to Franchise Model, Dan Ayoub Named as Head

If I were the optimistic type I'd say that this might mean that Wizards will do a better job of coordinating different aspects of the brand in order to capitalize on potential synergies (16 years since I worked in the corporate world and I still got the lingo down ;) ), so for example, a starter...

D&D General Splitting the Deck of Many More Things up

While I didn’t do a spread, I had players declare how many cards they planned to draw (0 to 3) and then I laid out that number face down before them like this: Player Declares then cuts the cards. Let’s say they declare 3. I lay out 1 and then put one aside “for the god of luck,” lay out...

D&D General Splitting the Deck of Many More Things up

When/If I get a chance tonight I’ll share my opinions. But after using someone else’s deck as a reward the PCs were given a clue as to the location of another deck they might use to mitigate the negative effects of their first go round (or risk even worse results).

D&D General Splitting the Deck of Many More Things up

I am out and about right now so can’t find the link but I did recently post about a version of the deck I made/used for one of my current games. My advice it to just decide on a number (like 22) and then just pick and choose what makes most sense for your game/setting/scenario/characters

I just want to state for the record that I would very happily try games run by either @hawkeyefan or @Maxperson
