D&D General Luke Gygax statement about recent GaryCon concerns.

I was a little surprised to see the name of a prominent streamer in the rpg/tabletop community mentioned multiple times in that filing (assuming it's the same person).

D&D General Live-Action D&D Shows/Podcasts: Love Them or Hate Them?

I listen to a few, mostly those with a comedic bend (Glass Cannon, Dungeons & Daddies, Crit Juice, etc), but I don't have the time or patience for 3+ hour podcasts. Even 2 hours is pushing it. If it's not roughly an hour or less, I'll typically pass.

D&D General Why Exploration Is the Worst Pillar

The point where it appears/originates is the target. You don't necessarily need to see it, but as the targeting rules state, you must have a clear path to it, so it can't be behind total cover.

D&D General Why Exploration Is the Worst Pillar

The rules don't explicitly call it "line of effect", but it's explained in the same terms. Transparency would only factor into the degree of obscurity (or lack thereof), not cover.

D&D 5E Good Ship to Ship Combat Rules for 5e?

This is a fairly popular piece of homebrew for naval combat: https://olddungeonmaster.com/2021/01/17/dd-5e-nautical-adventures-re-post/

D&D 5E Dashing with flying magic items, yea or nay?

https://www.sageadvice.eu/2018/01/26/if-a-character-is-mounted-on-a-broom-of-flying-can-they-use-their-dash-action/ When you take the Dash action, you get extra movement equal to your speed. If you have more than one speed, the relevant speed is the one you're using to move. The Dash action...

D&D General Jeff Goldblum To Appear In Dungeons & Dragons Podcast

Wow, I remember listening to a few episodes of this podcast shortly after it started and being incredibly impressed by their audio post production work. Awesome pull for them to get Goldblum. I might have to go back and pick up where I left off.

    D&D 5E Mounts in 5e

Just a friendly reminder/suggestion to check out the first issue of Arcadia, the D&D zine from MCDM (Matt Colville), for expanded rules on mounts. https://shop.mcdmproductions.com/products/arcadia-issue1

D&D 5E It's official, WOTC hates Rangers (Tasha's version of Favored Foe is GARBAGE)

Don't mind me. I'm here to add to the "dumb meme" pile.

    D&D 5E Miniature Collecting/Use and D&D

I collected Ral Partha boxed minis right after I got out of college. Still got these laying around in the factory shrink wrap.

    D&D 5E Bad Sage Advice?

Going strictly by RAW, which is typical of Sage Advice, it's technically correct. Each basic magical shield description says, "While holding this shield, you have a +X bonus to AC." If I had guess, RAI is likely the way most people run it (i.e. the shield must be donned). Regardless, I can't...

Critical Role Why Critical Role is so successful...

Critical Role, like most other forms of entertainment, succeeds in large part due to the large group of engaging and marketable personalities and talent. Mercer is a good DM, but if he had a flat, boorish group of players, the show would probably fizzle. If he was a mediocre or even subpar DM...

D&D 5E Is Intimidate the worse skill in the game?

For a mindful DM, it's more likely to enable multiple PCs to contribute to the social pillar in meaningful yet different ways instead of relying on a single face to dominate every social encounter. The bulk of physical and combat challenges typically aren't thwarted single-handedly or fall...
