    Our Physical Fitness

Today I dropped my fitness walking class. But I did walk 1.6 miles. I’m baffled as to why that class doesn’t ramp up brand new walkers slowly. It’s—forgive me—balls out from week one.

    Our Physical Fitness

I walked three miles yesterday. Today I will walk as far as the nearest coffee maker.

    Today I learned +

Today I encountered the word Mercosur, which is a South American trade bloc. Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay are members.

D&D General TSR Alum and Fantasy Author Jean Rabe Passes Away

This is such sad news. Jean’s Piper Blackwell novels introduced me to the cozy mystery fiction genre. She was always super cool and friendly online.

    Our Physical Fitness

Thanks to your generous gift of mojo, I walked three miles today. Also, my legs hate me. But they will get over it.

What are you reading in 2026?

I have finished listening to Anne Leckie’s Translation State and have moved on to her book Provenance. Adjua Ando is a magnificent narrator. She makes all of Leckie’s Imperial Radch books come alive in audiobook format.

D&D 5E (2024) Ed Greenwood to Publish 4 New Forgotten Realms Sourcebooks in 2026

These are going to be so good. I wish I could help write about Cormyr.

Penguin Random House Announces New D&D Romantasy Book

I really hope this book does well. There are so many ways to play the game. This book could be one way to inspire people to try out D&D. :)

    Maintaining your secret identity

Ah, well. So much for only operating at night.

    Maintaining your secret identity

I don’t think I would last a day. I could try to wear a disguise or maybe vibrate like the Flash to appear blurry. But my weakness is cookies and those are impossible to eat when you aren’t standing still. (I imagine cookie shrapnel is dangerous.) Question: Must Superman sleep? Or does he...

What are you reading in 2025?

For paper books, I have just started A Long Game: Notes On Writing Fiction by Elizabeth McCracken. I'm listening to a bunch of audiobooks right now. Arguably by Christopher Hitchens (weighing in at 28 hours, 22 minutes of content) and The Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye by A.S. Byatt are some...

    Today I learned +

Today I leaned that flour can be highly combustible—even explosive—if it’s in a fine, powdered form, dispersed in the air, and exposed to a spark or flame.

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The Index Of Enchanted Trinkets Complete--500+ Magic Items!

D&D General Any Dungeons/Adventures Recommendations (Netheril)

You’ve got The Door From Everywhere in there, so you’re good to go there. The 3E version of Lord’s of Darkness details an ancient Netherese outpost on pages 89-95 that contains a shattered mythallar.

How do you like to start a campaign

I have always wanted to do a Dead Barge Cremation Gone Wrong starting encounter. The characters all wake up in initiative order on a simple wooden barge towed out in the water. They are at the bottom of a pile of corpses soaked in lamp fluid and set aflame. (This is how the city of Marsember...
