    Season 9 Adventure changes

I got out at the beginning of the last rules non sense. My home group played through Heist with an AL lite rules set (gold was converted to Dragons and used in the city as currency). It was a good time. Half way through Mad Mage and we dumped the magic items rules too. Saltmarsh will be no AL...

    Advice: Overpowered Abilities

I must say, you are very impressive. I travel a fair bit and have the privilege to visit conventions all around the country; from Vegas to Toronto to New Jersey. I see maybe 300 new and unique people to game with each year, but one as yourself, to know the desires (or norm) of almost 15 million...

    Advice: Overpowered Abilities

I play mainly organized play, especially big conventions (Gencon, Origins, WF, Gamehole, etc.) and sometimes spend entire weekends gaming with new people, so you don't always have the choice of game mates. Bad musters happen. I tend to run more inclusive on allowing players to do and try stuff...

    Advice: Overpowered Abilities

We'll have to agree to disagree... I've been at plenty of tables with bad judges and it's incredibly hard to have a good time even with a known group of fun players with a bad judge. One or two bad players can be countered with a good judge and the table has fun. but aside from that, apart from...

    Advice: Overpowered Abilities

You're the judge. Ideally the PCs should succeed and your job is to make it fun. You control everything behind the screen. Hit points, mobs, damage... If the players like to be refreshed after every encounter, make each encounter that much more interesting. Its not a video game.

    Season 8 Changes (Adventurers League)

so ultimately, casters core ability to cast spells is to be compensated by magic item count reduction to accommodate these new rules. That seems fair.

    Season 8 Changes (Adventurers League)

The gold values are simply unrealistic. (yes I know its a fantasy game). Lets say I want to copy and learn Scrying. It would be 1000 gp for the scroll, 1000 gp for the material component and 250 gp to copy. That's more than I will have earned in my entire career through level 14th level...

    D&D 5E Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

I've been playing 5e since it started and I've played almost every AL adventure...it seems to happen quite often. The main big bad guy is a high level caster hidden behind beefy minions. The usual tactic has been to get a fast toon to the caster but that doesn't always work. And with all of the...

    D&D 5E Is Warlock broken?

Generic warlock is really a flavored archer. One trick pony and generally pretty boring. You hope to add flavor with patrons, but it still comes down to EB spam. You certainly can become melee focused and at least be able to stand in combat helping distribute damage. You can also add more...

D&D 5E Low Level Wizards Really Do Suck in 5E

Well, that's awesome...but now what will your damage be in the next few encounters? 3 per day seems kinda slim but if that is your DM, I can see your point. You could have probably ended one encounter with an appropriately placed web, ended another with a sleep...and still had spell slots for...

    D&D 5E Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

That would be handy. For example, knowing a wizard or potential counterspell to your own is out there and moving out of LoS and dropping that fireball on the opposing wizard or his group so they can't counter it...or following big AoE spells with sleep or just how powerful placing a web on an...

D&D 5E Low Level Wizards Really Do Suck in 5E

Exactly. I generally only play wizards as I find dps classes to be kinda boring. Wizards always seem OP when they focus on battlefield control. Wizards always seem weak when focused on sustained dpr

I see MPMB gets around the SRD by having a set of strings to download separately. Is that a possible work around here?

Season 8 will switch to the Organized Play rules presented in XGTE

I personally feel leveling is simply fast. I work hard to make interesting back histories and role play aspects and especially at T3, you scream through levels, in some cases barely 1.5 adventures to gain a level. I'd vote for a slow track option as in PFS.

    Winter Fantasy Roll Call

I agree, just having a list of the purchasable items on the wall (voided copy) would go a long way. I've seen many people at cons wait and finally get there to be disappointed and leave without a purchase. Also, for longer worded certs, you are not spending time reading; just buying. A...

DM Rewards & DM Quests (Clarifications)

So if you are the DM for a group of players in a season 7 and one suffers the death curse effect (like lost hp), and then run a non season 7 (like a season 3 for example) for the same players, do you enforce the death effect? Is it only past or does it continue? Do the hp stay away? What if they...
