If there are still OotS fans around here, they might want to show their support for the comic on this online contest thingie.

And apparently, Redcloak helped Xykon turn into a lich. (It may not be new to those who have Start of Darkness.)

Would you Swap 3.5e for Exalted?

Does this mean we'd have to swap Order of the Stick for Keychain of Creation, too?

Fox News is the cutest thing ever; and I never thought it was possible to say such a sentence.

    Foreign languages for DMing

And the énochien archaïque comes from the Adventures of Kalon. A very stupid read. :p

    OoTS #531 is up!

As far as the threads on the GiantitP board goes, that's not a bad thing. It used to be "three pages in five minutes", made solely of redundant posts all commenting on the same two or three things, all asking whether they were the only ones to catch it.

The Experiment - Adding Tropes to a Setting

Oh, this is definitely not balance as I use it. My idea is more of a harmony, a compromise, the proverbial truth in the middle. (Of Law and Chaos. No compromise with Evil.) If it's arbitrarily imposed by Cosmic Forces From Beyond, then it's definitely not balance...

The Experiment - Adding Tropes to a Setting

Me too, I prefer having balance between Law and Chaos; with Good being a state of balance and Evil being a state of imbalance. (It was part of my pet reason why the Celestials are united while the Fiends are fighting their Blood War between LE and CE.)

    Foreign languages for DMing

It reminds me of a few satirical gaming stories in French where English was used "archaic Enochian" and was the language used for magic items. Like "I found a Runestaff of Curse and a Scroll of Stupidity!" "What do they do?" "I don't know, we'd need a scholar to identify them."

The Book of Experimental Might: Now in Print!

Haven't bought anything RPG-related for several long months, since I haven't had a need for anything. I don't plan on getting 4e, and I have already far too many house-rules of my own. He makes everything inedible? :p People tend to forget that Midas was cursed, not blessed.

    Women and Children first?

Maybe, but all fiction is about the human experience.

    Cops looting bodies?

There's corruption, and then there's simple incompetence. I know a guy who lost a few semi-valuable things (like an old cell phone) along with totally worthless things (like pictures of relatives) having having been arrested. While the stuff may have been stolen, and then the personal things...

    Nonhuman noncombatants?

Dragons would be, as far as D&D3 is concerned, the only case where it's really meaningful to talk about age of creatures that have an "Always" alignment. I don't think you'll ever see a serious setting with a baby balor.

    Women and Children first?

Seven husbands is the norm. But beware, these female dwarves suffer from a very peculiar allergy to apples. Myself, my next homebrew, whenever I'll made one, will have dwarves and elves as respectively the males and females of the same species.

An ancient civilization making a comeback... which race?

Everything but elves. Elves as "ancient master civilization that's more ancient than everybody else and then some more" is horribly clichéd and overdone. Furthermore: Giants are a good bet, since with the magical plague you get an excuse to use the various forms of giants (and ogres) as so...

    D&D Phycology

Let's face it, the majority of people on a gaming messageboard are geeks, and geeks are supposed to be smart. But in D&D, Intelligence bonus determines how many foreign language you know; so you can reverse that to determine your D&D Int based on your linguistic skills. It puts me at 13, I know...
