D&D General Tower of the Realms Mini Scenery Piece

I kinda wish the staircase had levels to accommodate figures instead of being realistic, but still very cool.

Can someone break down the different Star Wars games for me?

From my experience with the original West End Games (WEG) version and the Fantasy Flight Games (FFG) versions, I think for youngsters they each have drawbacks and benefits. The d6 version can be good for not having to do much explaining regarding how to read the dice. Then again, the FFG...

    D&D 5E Farts (serious question)

I figured this thread would stink, but we can't all come up smelling like roses. In fact, I would recommend googling/searching Enworld for a thread some years ago for a play by play of a 3E Dungeon Magazine adventure called "The Stink". My friend Monte Lin wrote it and an ENWorlder posted his...

D&D 5E Gen Con is in full swing: Anyone seen Out of the Abyss?

Has anyone set eyes on the info in this teaser: https://twitter.com/chrisperkinsdnd/status/596480620466868224

D&D 5E Why is the wizards site so hard to navigate?

Yes, a week or 2 ago I googled something to find a WotC article, (exact article escapes me now, but I think it was Elemental Apocalypse related) and got the opportunity to take their survey. I told them the site was "pretty" but too hard to find anything.

Original games that suck, but are better with an expansion

So I have a friend writing a scene who asked just that question. The characters in the scene say something to the effect, "this game sucked and then they came out with the expansion and that made all the difference". In emailing friends, we can't seem to find a game we think falls into this...

Wanted! Your experience with Horror on the Orient Express

First, I will point out that CoC and horror RPG's in general are not in my wheelhouse. I'm playing because I like the people I'm playing with. We are currently on hiatus, but if I had to guess, about 3/5th of the way through. We actually started our campaign in America, made out way to...

D&D 5E In your opinion, what is the most underrated spell in the PHB and why?

Suddenly I feel the need to check and change some of my spell choices. Fortunately my wizard just found his first enemy spellbook, so now I see the need to read them over closely before going with the usual suspects.

Pathfinder 1E Occult Adventures playtest available

I think you could compare the occultist to the psychic warrior from the Expanded Psionics Handbook or the Inquisitor or a hybrid. Its purpose, well, I guess that is something like the generalist occult class, but I have not read it closely enough to know if I'm on the right track.

Pathfinder 1E Why would a gaming group complete the largest Paizo module in history? I asked them.

I've been playing DnD and/or a derivative for over 20 years and I do not believe I have ever completed a superdungeon, or the more recent invention of an Adventure Path or the predecessor of linked modules. I know we tried Temple of Elemental Evil but it went off rails into a planar adventure...

    Free RPG Day

It was my perspective, possibly flawed, that Free RPG Day has some fatigue in the SF Bay Area. I checked the retail locator and found the 2 most likely places I would go to were Games of Berkeley and Black Diamond Games. Anything else required a navigational aide or paying a toll. In previous...

Pathfinder 1E According to... uh the guy who pickled us.

Pickled as in preserved, by going back in time 1000 years. And it sounds like the BBEG wanted to collect them like trophies, stuffed, perhaps in pickling brine.

Kickstarter Kickstarter to expand Black Diamond Games play area

One of the game stores I tend to pay attention to is Black Diamond Games in Concord, CA. I game with Gary, the owner, and have for over a decade, including before he threw his hat into the game store ring. Now they are looking to increase their play area by building a mezzanine level. Here...

Pathfinder 1E Looking for chaos mutation ability or chart that isn't another version of wild magic or rod of wonder.

I'm looking for a d20 or Pathfinder creature or spell or ability that provides a short array of weird powers or changes to a character, possibly against his/her wishes. But I'm not interested in rehashing wild/chaos magic random effects. I'm less interested in changing spells being cast than...

    Gaming During the Holidays

I have tried, failed, and given up on running an RPG on an actual holiday, like New Years. However, within the last 7 years or so I've found a group of friends who enjoy board gaming enough to do it regularly and during New Years Eve and Day or July 4th, or on someone's birthday. That is in...

    Pathfinder 1E Unknown/Random adventures

Welcome and Happy Holidays! You'll find some I believe that were created for the Old School Renaissance, and some random d20 one-offs, I think, like that adventure with the barbarian and dessert golem, name is escaping me at the moment. But thankfully I remembered these which might work for...

Pathfinder 1E Can you write a higher level spell to scroll than you can cast?

Short answer, no. But I'll let someone cut and paste why you can't.

    Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I missed an episode, before the China incident, since I was at a wedding reception, but I like it. I try to look for easter eggs, but I'm probably way out of the loop on comic universe continuity for anything except the most obvious stuff. I do wonder how much they'll straddle the line between...
