WotC WotC President Cynthia Williams Resigns

Yeah! I still have not forgiven them for that garbage 4e. It's not like I own all the official 5e books in print and DDB.... Or that I dropped PF as soon as 5e offered me something better... I will never forgive D&D!

WotC WotC President Cynthia Williams Resigns

Not true. Companies allow you to resign rather than be fired all the time.

D&D (2024) How to reign in full casters for 1D&D? Maybe remove 6th to 9th level spells as a Variant rule.

I would not run a group with such players. There are fewer GMs and always someone wanting to find a group.

D&D (2024) How to reign in full casters for 1D&D? Maybe remove 6th to 9th level spells as a Variant rule.

Agreed. The casters in my last campaign kept complaining that things were dead before he got a turn. He always had low init and it was funny that he often played clean-up.

D&D (2024) How to reign in full casters for 1D&D? Maybe remove 6th to 9th level spells as a Variant rule.

You can say you can take 1 long rest per 24 hour period. I also think you can add fatigue rules if they are resting too often. The characters bodies will loose their circadian rhythms and they will find it difficult to rest. Players will always cheese the rules. My players always take Tiny...

    D&D (2024) One D&D Overly Complex

Did you miss where the player walked the dog, returned, and it has not come back around to that players turn? The poster was saying that it took so long for the other players to take their turns that the dog-walker knew he had time to walk his dog. The DM can be gung ho. I do skip players if...

    D&D (2024) One D&D Overly Complex

When I run a game, I put hours of my time into it every week and often working on building out the campaign world and developing encounters, trying to incorporate the player backgrounds into the story, trying to build meaningful treasure lists.... Players show up. It is often the case that they...

D&D (2024) How did I miss this about the Half races/ancestries

I am not sure anyone has said they need to see racism in their fantasy game. Personally, I like unique half-elves. I am not a fan of them now being a cosmetic skin. I dislike the new rules allowing any possible species union. I just know I will see someone argue for a Warforged Kobold at some...

D&D (2024) How did I miss this about the Half races/ancestries

They could have come up with a name. Instead, you are either a human or an elf in terms of mechanics. You show your heritage by cosmetic appearance. I liked that the half-elf has special mechanics.

This part of ENWorld has not changed. :P

    D&D (2024) Take A Closer Look At The 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide

I tend to favor the players who give me decent backstories that tie into the world. It makes it easier to develop content that would be meaningful to the character. I guess I am reacting to something I saw on the DDB forums where players are talking about telling the DM that they cannot include...

D&D (2024) How did I miss this about the Half races/ancestries

I think that the use of the label is meant to color the argument. It is funny but my gaming groups over the years often included a huge range of genders, orientation, and opinions. There have been some very lively debates over the years yet the groups always tended to be close knit. In many...

    D&D (2024) Take A Closer Look At The 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide

I played 1 session in collage of Vampire: The Masquerade. I never returned to it.

D&D (2024) How did I miss this about the Half races/ancestries

I am not sure anyone said anything about a silent majority. I agree on this point. There seems to be a distinct lack of reasoned discussion.

D&D (2024) How did I miss this about the Half races/ancestries

I disagree. That is decidedly not the case. There have been strong women characters in fantasy for more than 50 years. D&D novels and books have depicted strong female characters for decades.

D&D (2024) How did I miss this about the Half races/ancestries

Yes. It expands. I find it difficult to follow most days. I really do not remember people complaining about tropes that often a decade ago. .

D&D (2024) How did I miss this about the Half races/ancestries

The definition changes daily/weekly/monthly at times. I am not certain I ever heard of half-elves as a potentially racist trope before the recent news articles and that was only because a designer decided that something was problematic. Honestly, I have not really been on the ENWorld since my...

    D&D (2024) Take A Closer Look At The 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide

I do not get this session 0, consent form or red card mindset. I have never been in a group where this would be needed or required and I have been GMing since '93. As a GM, I do set boundaries. The players cannot be evil. The players cannot make characters with backgrounds that would prevent...

D&D (2024) How did I miss this about the Half races/ancestries

I am re-reading the War of the Lance. The books would be quite different without half-elves.

D&D (2024) Rests should be dropped. Stop conflating survival mechanics with resource recovery.

Wait....you do not one want the party popping a Tiny Hut after a moderate or difficult encounter just to restore their resources?
