    Crows Officially Announced by MCDM

I'll admit that while I like the theory behind "inventory is intertwined with wounds," I've yet to really love it in practice. On the larger topic: kind of as I imagined, it's interesting how this is stacking up against Flail by Games Omnivorous.

How Complex Do You Prefer Your TTRPG Systems In General

I chose 11 because of this. I don't want to ever read (mandatory/core) rules text that stretches nearly or over a hundred pages again. But I will absolutely play in a Pathfinder 2nd edition session if you hand me a pregen. Meanwhile, I find Fate to be way too light for my GMing, but I'm...

Who Should Make The Next Star Wars TTRPG, And What Should It Look Like?

Yo, Star Borg is right there! And it's really good. And it has a full-length adventure, an expansion zine, and two more expansion zines in the pipeline. Okay, I'll admit the "you're the rebel grunts and you could die in 1-2 hits" is maybe not what most people think of when they think of Star...

    Does anyone have Kickstarter regrets?

Here's my list of 'shame': Break!! - I love the aesthetics, and there's a lot to love about the game design, but it just doesn't quite match my expectations coming from my OSR games of choice (a combo of Shadowdark and Errant). It doesn't stand on its own among my collection, and so there's no...

    Comic Book General Thread

I've mostly been reading Marvel Unlimited to visit older stuff for the first time, like the early New Mutants run, a few cosmic Avengers storylines, and the original Runaways. This is also because I run a Marvel game that's set around the time of Civil War (but is diverging significantly, since...

Let's Talk About Supers RPGs (Especially Ones Good For Cons)

For a Con, sometimes simplest is best, and Streamlined Supers is as simple as it gets while still having something to it. It's extremely open ended to how define powers, and layers a Cortex/Marvel Heroic style "effect dice" mechanic on top of a simple d20+attribute mod resolution system. But...

D&D General [Name Change]Red Hand of Doom Conversions

Haven't done it, but thought about it. A lot. I don't recall all the specifics, but the DMsGuild conversion may have been related to a crowdfunding campaign that was IMO pretty shady. I don't think the results were shady -- it wasn't a "take the money and run" scenario IIRC -- but rather that...

D&D General You Can Now Get Mike Schley's Official Map of Faerûn

Yes, this does look more comprehensive. I ended up parting with my copies of that dragon map because I ended up needing to find more comprehensive regional maps when I was DMing. And I don't have any wall space for D&D stuff, unfortunately. When I'm rich though!!!

D&D General You Can Now Get Mike Schley's Official Map of Faerûn

Sounds like 48x72 is a must for those of us with deteriorating eyesight, eh?

Other D&D Variant [+] Curse of Strahd in Nimble vs Shadowdark

Perhaps humorously, I ultimately went with a complete left turn: Tales of Xadia - The Dragon Prince Roleplaying Game.

Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

Ah, good point. YT is pretty silly that way. So I guess it's still not worth ascribing malice yet, but it does set a higher bar to engaging with Bob and attempting to inform him, if that's even necessary. ¯\(ツ)/¯ Not really sure how I feel about commenting either.

Samesies; my comment's gone. He's now got a permanent spot on my Do Not Support list.

Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

I did the same on Bob's video. Maybe it'll inform him. I don't ascribe malice to either of these content creators, as ignorance is more likely. But for this and other reasons, I have unsubscribed and no longer view any of their stuff (Ben for about a year now)

Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

Sad seeing Bob World Builder and Ben Milton/Questing Beast still singing DCC's praises after all of this, too. So many people will inadvertently support this awfulness unaware of its effects on the community.

    Shadowdark Shadowdark General Thread [+]

Connecting the 7s is probably a problem in any configuration. You need separation between them to ensure they read as distinct number 7s, as opposed to anything else. Never muddy the actual name of your company!

Monster Overhaul has great tables for wizards. Bard you might have to find something fitting, but considering the number of tables in that book, it shouldn't be too hard to find one that fits.

James Ohlen Shifts From Archetype Entertainment Head to Creative Consultant for Tabletop RPGs at Wizards

I'm wondering if that's not actually a part of it. His DMsGuild work got pretty decent marketing... For DMsGuild work. But Exodus got practically nothing. Maybe this is a "I think we can do better, let me show you how" moment?

James Ohlen Shifts From Archetype Entertainment Head to Creative Consultant for Tabletop RPGs at Wizards

Heroes of Baldur's Gate. A great sourcebook and interesting mini-campaign for levels 1 to about 6-ish.
