I think Trail of Cthulhu is a worthwhile purchase. That said, for me it ended up being more of an idea mine for running Call of Cthulhu (i.e., BRP) in a more "Trail-like" fashion (i.e., rather than running Trail..., itself).

On the contrary, I think TSR-run-by-Gary produced the majority of the most definitive and greatest D&D material. Decades later, WotC is *STILL* milking those classic adventures and sites with Yet Another Returning Expedition to [Fill-in-the-blank-with-a-Gary-Era-Classic].

Flashing Blades I've got the stuff and have run some test combats and such, but have yet to put in the time and effort to get an actual game going.
