    Prop question

If you have Microsoft Word... Copy and Paste the image into Word, right click on the image... one of the options should be Format Picture. This should bring up a menu with an Artistic Effects option... which has some fun options.

D&D General from Dungeons to Dragons

One of my gaming crew came down with not-COVID last week, but had to suffer through that interminable "how many people did I possibly infect?" period while waiting for test results (because apparently some take-home tests aren't terribly accurate in detecting Omicron). Wanting to check in on...

    Renaming Fantasy Shamans/Shamanism (+)

Mystic is my default for the shamanistic range of class abilities, but I also use Keeper, Warden and Grey Walker to designate various magical specialties. Or I guess Spirit Walker could be a thing.

    Player Distractions.

I'm a rabid multi-tasker, and I *need* to keep my hands busy - usually sketching but often reviewing my spells and abilities. The DM always has my full attention, but I can-not-be-still. Can't do it. But I'm usually the most active & engaged PC. As a DM, I've had Dreamers, who need to be...

    D&D 3E/3.5 3.5e NG aligned Paladin-like class?

I think this is a re-post of the Sentinel (Neutral Good Paladin) from Dragon 310: Sentinel Also, Unearthed Arcana (3.5) has variant Chaotic Good Paladin (compulsion immunity/aura instead of fear immunity/aura; different spell list), as well as a LE & CE version. Ultimately, if your DM is...

Would you play in this game?

I read the OP as saying the campaign would take place on a Railroad. I would totally play a campaign set on a Railroad. Awesome.

    Csi: ???

The CSI/Who themes are a triumph of cross marketing. Or something. They're just awesome. I'm always happiest when they milk the organ intro leading up to the "Horatio Scream." ("Looks like... [sunglasses on] ... a critical hit.") "Behind Blue Eyes" is the next/best/obvious choice for a CSI...

What fake gaming terminology does your group use?

Over the course of years of play, we pick up terminology that really isn't officially sanctioned and copy-written by TSR, WOTC, or The Powers That Be. Nevertheless these words become part of our gaming langauge. What unofficial jargon does your group use? Some examples... "Playing" - No one...

    Strangest place you've gamed...?

I totally forgot this when I started the thread... I used to hike down to Temple University to game with a friend and his college buddies. One night, for a change of pace, we played after hours in this upscale bakery in Center City Philadelphia where he worked. After an hour or so, my friend...

    Strangest place you've gamed...?

So, wait... were the lab rats playing PC's or were they simply menacing the miniatures...?

    Strangest place you've gamed...?

We've all gamed in cramped dining rooms, cluttered apartments without air conditioning, or lounging around the living room. What are the strangest places you've played? What obscure objects have stood in for your gaming table? As a teen I had somehow procured two 4' high wooden...

    Gaming Room Setup Help

A dedicated gaming space is a thing of beauty, and you have the beginnings of an awesome set-up, especially with that DM's shelf & monitor. My experience with couches has been less of a socializing issue and more that they tend to lull folks (myself included) toward sleep after a while. It...

Designing a character by using lyrics from a song

My players love to identify "gaming songs" = anything from pop to metal that matches their characters... everything from "Hot Child in the City" for a Fire Sorceress to "I Don't Wanna Be" (I come from the mountain/ the crust of creation) for a Dragon-blooded Warrior to a hundred more I can't...

Help or advice?D&D group w/players, failure to acknowledge or even know rules... help

Hi Gottohneaffen, I feel your pain. And I understand your frustration, especially with trying to maintain the integrity of a game you love when noone else takes it as seriously (or understands the rules as well) as you do. But I would say this: The game (as wonderful as it is) is not worth...

    Tv & rpgs

My friend and I have always wanted to base an adventure around the plot of "Pitch Black" -- while transporting a deadly assassin, PCs are stranded on a world of hostile beasts, and are about to be plunged into cold & darkness. I ran an adventure once that centered on intrigue during "The...

    Feather Token - Bird

I routinely used (=abused) the bird-tokens in one campaign... once I delivered a message covered in sovereign glue to an enemy (just out of spite). But mostly I used the bird-tokens as a tracking device to find missing companions or escaped villains who teleported away: We just let the bird...

    Seeking gamers or game D&D

Dear Scully (if that is indeed your real names), I will gladly DM you for the low-low price of one round-trip ticket to Gilroy (Onion capitol of the world)! Also, some munchies would be nice. Or just one Munchie, I am not picky. Also, do you have a cat, because that could be a problem for me...

    Curing Blindness

Though I should mention, using the same DMG rule... A fellow player insisted on making constant Spot checks for his blind monk. Never mind that he was guaranteed to fail every one. The DMG said he could roll. He rolled.
