    Lucubration and Bewitching Gaze

I'm probably going to allow the domination that lasts until the end of your next turn to last until the end of the encounter, but not the recurring damage as a free action. Incredibly epic on the edge of broken powerful, but surmountable with Dispel effects, save even if it doesn't allow a save...

    Lucubration and Bewitching Gaze

Any thoughts on how these two would interact? Daily Arcane Minor Action Personal Effect: Until the end of the encounter or until you become unconscious, your arcane powers that can be sustained instead last until the end of the encounter. Daily Arcane, Charm, Enchantment...

Anyone try fixing Scales of War

We're starting Throne of the Stone-Skinned King and the wealth of backstory with the help of that Wiki and additions based on my individual character backgrounds and choices they've made in the game has made our campaign very rich. And as the scope increases in scale the payoffs are only going...

Scales of War - Battle Maps

Been a few months, updated with all the mayhem we've been up to. Airship to dragon combat, airship to airship combat, airship smashing into fort combat, you know, the usual... http://imgur.com/a/0fXUa I changed the sort of the images to reverse chronological. Was a pain to drag each new...

    Any Cool fire Encounter?

Rescue at Rivenroar starts out with an ogre fire bombing Brindol, Den of the Destroyer has bounty hunters setting fire to a museum, Temple Between has Berbalang firebombing the chapel district, Beyond the Mottled Tower has the Green Dragon Inn being rocked by an earthquake that starts a fire in...

Scales of War - Battle Maps

Thanks. I love digital cameras. I wish I had photos like this of past games I've played in. They're fun to scroll through on occasion. Especially the graph pad ones because you never know what will get doodled on them over the course of the session. Forgot your saving throw again? Ron...

Scales of War - Battle Maps

Updated pics through today's dragon throw down... http://imgur.com/a/0fXUa Some of the doodles on the tower sinking into madness may have gotten a little silly as Pacific Rim had very recently been watched. ^_^

Scales of War - Battle Maps

The easel pads have 50 sheets that fit my table, I can flip through multiple maps at a session, and when I'm done they all stay together and store quickly under the couch. What are the advantages that gaming paper would have instead?

    Skill Challenges - PirateCat Style

This last one, battle planning, specifically rewarded successes for any plausible suggestions the party could put forth that would aid in the defense of the city. But sometimes they just like the structure. Too often in the game I play in ideas of how skills can be applied face a wall of...

    Skill Challenges - PirateCat Style

Warning: Scales of War Spoilerish things in the link So one of the take aways I had from reading PirateCat's 4e learning/commentary thread was how to make Skill Challenges something both fun, player interactive, and more organic. He talks about hand outs and honestly making these hand outs has...

Scales of War - Battle Maps

Exactly. After 3 years (did we really start in 2010!?!) we've filled our first easel pad with maps (50 pages) and I don't want to get rid of it for the sheer memories attached. There isn't a lot we can all do together and enjoy every week that doesn't cost $60 or more dollars each time and...

Scales of War - Battle Maps

Yeah, the first few maps of Siege of Bordrin's Watch were done on a chessex map with vis a vis and the artist felt limited. That's when we switched to the graph easel pad and prismacolor markers so she could go nuts.
