Pretty cool picture comparing sizes of starships.

Wow, that is very cool. The only thing missing is the Death Star. I never learned to think in metric, so having the Babylon 5 station (5 miles long) to compare other ships and bases to gives me a real idea of the size of things.

why does enworld want me to run Windows Media 6.4 Player Shim

From what I'm reading it appears to be a side effect of enhanced security in IE7. Google lead me to a thread on Ars Technica where they're discussing the same thing. There's some Grandma-unfriendly language there, so I'm not gonna provide a link. What I gathered from the discussion though is...

    Town Map

You might look through the free maps at Profantasy. They're in Campaign Cartographer format, but Profantasy offers a free utility to view and print CC files without having to buy CC. Dungeon Magazine is also a good source for maps.

What level, class and alignment are you?

I'm a Commoner 1 with 1 hp and Skill Focus: Knowledge (Rock Lyrics). I have significantly more wealth than normal for my level. The extra wealth is due to my having drawn two little-known cards from the Deck of Many Things, the Master Card and the Discover Card. Upon my death each of these...

Coming to you live from my Wii!

Hopefully the beta isn't so bad that people never give the final release a chance.

Coming to you live from my Wii!

That's a bummer. I was hoping the Wii version would shine and people would switch their computers to Opera in droves. Still, congratulations on your increased Internetting options. If nothing else, surfing from the couch has got to be more comfortable than surfing from a computer chair.

Live near any fantasy-sounding places? List 'em here!

The only two off the top of my head are Graveyard Fields and the Devil's Courthouse, both natural features. There's also the Biltmore Estate, which certainly looks like something out of fantasy.

Where is Ed's Castlemourn campaign book?

If you go to dragonlance.com, click on the store, then Product Overview, then scroll down and click Castlemourn, there's a section where you can order the Player's Guide and/or preorder the full campaign setting (however, no release date is listed). I'd provide a direct link, but the store site...

Do only DMs like rules lite systems?

I think rules complexity is always going to be more of a DM issue than a player issue. A player can ignore options (either in the core rules or supplements) which they find to be above their complexity tolerance. In order to be able to plan combat encounters that are of the correct difficulty...

Question about OGL and d20 licenses

On his website Sean K. Reynolds puts colored boxes around everything that is OGC. That makes it easy to tell what is and isn't open content.

    Tell us a joke...

At the Store A store manager overheard a clerk saying to a customer, "No, ma'am, we haven't had any for some weeks now, and it doesn't look as if we'll be getting any soon." Alarmed, the manager rushed over to the customer who was walking out the door and said, "That isn't true, ma'am. Of...

    Tell us a joke...

On a recent flight, an elderly passenger kept peering out the window. Since it was totally dark, all she could see was the blinking wing-tip light. Finally, she rang for the flight attendant. "I'm sorry to bother you," she said, "but I think you should inform the pilot that his left-turn...

Why do you post in enWorld? And where do you most often post?

I mostly lurk. When I do post it's because I feel I have something to say that no one else has said yet or is likely to say soon. As a result I rarely post in General. Mostly I post in Off Topic, Computers, and Meta, which are less-travelled forums.

Help me decide what game to get

I recently picked up the original Galactic Civilizations for $9.99 at Target. I was a pretty big fan of Civ II and Master of Orion I, and I'm enjoying Gal Civ so far. There's a playbale demo for download at their website.

    Amazon.com question...

Thing is, it's "shipping and handling", not just "shipping". Someone has to pull product, pack it up and get it ready to mail. I figure the "and handling" part is to help cover the cost of paying somebody to do that. I picked up the notion from somewhere (maybe Amazon themselves back when...

    Amazon.com question...

I haven't gone for Super Saver Shipping in a while, but whenever I have it has always been very clear to me that doing so could incur a delay in shipping. I don't use One Click Ordering though, so I don't know if that makes a difference. As for shipping costs, I find Amazon to be very...

DCC 35 setting should now be available!

At the moment I'm working under the assumption that Amazon is just slow in getting their copies in stock. Amazon sent me an e-mail stating they expect to ship it to me around October 26th. I've ordered DCCs from Amazon in the past, so I know they've been able to acquire previous titles in the...
