Your personal stats per standard array?

Facts not in evidence. Your handling of Hong, a well known troll (I mean that in the nicest way possible!) proves that your Wisdom and Charisma stats should be quite a bit lower.

Asking myself "Why?" about gaming lately...

Read my reply again. I said... <Not a complete failure, just an evolutionary failure. For millions of years the only reason to exist was to reproduce. Some people apparently believe that it isn't a worthwhile goal.> I was speaking from an evolutionary standpoint, and from that standpoint...

Asking myself "Why?" about gaming lately...

Exactly. Not a complete failure, just an evolutionary failure. For millions of years the only reason to exist was to reproduce. Some people apparently believe that it isn't a worthwhile goal.

    Quicker than the Eye

Based on the following... Based on the following... (taken from the thread referenced above) ----- Person: 5. I found Quicker Than the Eye confusing. Do you get an actual extra partial action granted to you if *any* foe (even 1 out of 20 goblins) fails the Spot check? Sage: No. Creatures...

    hill giant errata

Evil Grin After reading the start of this thread I threw one of the dreaded Sorcerer Hill Giants at the party during our last session on Saturday. After the "Whaaa ? They can't do that!" and the "Fireball?? Run!" I had a good laugh.

How many of you use the Identify material component?

We use a variant. IMC the Sorcerer class does NOT use any material components. The Sorcerer has to burn a small amount of XP (amount based upon the GP value of the material component normally used) when casting spells that require a material component valued at 100 GP or more.

Ever had that one player who's just on a different wavelength?

An idea... Keep situations that require dice rolling separate from the situations where you want to encourage role-playing. This will minimize the perceived personal and imaginary risks associated with role-playing. I know that my players don't enjoy having their real life ignorance of a...

    AoO on "at will" abilities

Thanks! EDIT: Err.. Wait.. Thanks! EDIT: Err.. Wait.. The table and associated texts say that spell-like abilities provoke an attack of opportunity and are affected by dispel and spell resistance, but it does not say that they can be disrupted or require a concentration check. Is there...

    AoO on "at will" abilities

Just curious... Where in the rules (please give exact reference) does it say that spell-like abilities can be disrupted by an attack of opportunity? Is there any similar reference for supernatural or extraordinary abilities (again, exact reference please)? Thanks.

    What D&D character are you?

Hmmm... Chaotic Neutral Half-Orc Fighter Ranger Follower Of Tempus Alignment: Chaotic Neutral characters are unstable, and frequently insane. They believe in disorder first and foremost, and will thus strive for that disorder in everything they do. This means that they will do whatever seems...

Spring Attack and other tough questions...

I agree with Hong. It does not say that you "must" move before and after. The word "may" allows a thing, the word "must" requires it.

    Special Dungeon Crawls

I've always been partial to tombs with a variety of undead, traps, pits, and evil outsiders.

Ring of Force Shield and Two-handed weapons

My reasoning... I would allow a player to use this item in conjunction with a 2H weapon for the following reasons... 1) The shield that the ring generates has no weight. Unlike a real shield the only thing you need to do to block is will the shield to be there. 2) The shield can be activated...

Ring of Force Shield and Two-handed weapons

Riddle me this. Read the following and then answer a simple question... "An iron band, this simple ring generates a large shield-sized (and shield-shaped) wall of force that stays with the ring and can be wielded by the wearer as if it were a normal shield (+2 AC). This special creation...

What do you do when your character dies?

I think that this is an EXCELLENT point. New players should be encouraged to play something different when their character dies. It's a good way for them to find the classes that they enjoy playing and the ones that just don't work for them. Experienced players have usually gone through this...

[OT] A KNIGHT'S TALE: Um, what's up with that?

Thumbs up. Some people have a list of things that they expect to see in a medieval movie and if those check boxes aren't all filled in they slam the movie. This movie was a fun, light-hearted attempt to present the material in a way that hadn't been done before. Some people don't get it. I...

What do you do when your character dies?

It depends... Most of the time it depends on how much fun I was having with that particular character. If I was playing a Cleric because there wasn't another healer type in the party, and I wasn't enjoying it, I will switch to a different class and encourage another player to take his turn as...

What kind of magic do you like?

Seriously... <I am thinking of using the Soveriegn Stone or Wheel of Time systems in place of the D&D version though. Both of those systems are more flavorful and present magic in a much more realistic way.> And how exactly is any one way more 'realistic' when it comes to magic than any other...

How do i get my players roleplaying?

What is wrong with this picture? If the players are having fun and they don't want to roleplay, you seriously need to examine YOUR motivation for forcing it on them. I've always considered it my responsibility as a DM to give the players more of what THEY want, not to FORCE them to do what I...
