D&D 5E D&D Beyond: No More À La Carte Purchases But US Customers Can Buy Physical Books

Does level up have an app that I can download onto my phone with all the rulebooks I've purchased that is also useable offline? Does it have an app that allows me and my players to freely share the books we've all purchased amongst ourselves? Does it have a virtual character sheet I can use via...

D&D 5E D&D Beyond: No More À La Carte Purchases But US Customers Can Buy Physical Books

The point is that they are able to offer their consumers things for their games others can't BECAUSE they aren't barely scraping by.

Yeah... IMO that site is horrible for ease of usage. I'm ok paying for a much better interface and experience.

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

What do you mean by "narrative" game?? Edit: I understand narrative mechanics... which are exactly what Buffy has to deal with the Scoobies vs Slayer disparity, but you seem to be calling out a narrative game as something different...

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

Just a quick note... in the Buffy rpg this disparity is actually accounted for via meta-currency...which IMO is a much better solution than having the DM try to account for all possible builds that could exist in a play group.

D&D General D&D's Utter Dominance Is Good or Bad Because...

We got a revamp of the skill system and it was made a core part of D&D from 2e to 3e... the save system in 2e was changed and tied to attributes for the first time with 3e... Again this seems to be based around what you prefer vs. the actual changes, 3e added a unified roll over...

D&D General D&D's Utter Dominance Is Good or Bad Because...

Could you be more specific? 4e had classes... it had feats... it had class abilities... it had grided combat... it had monsters you fought for treasure... and all these things were in 3e. What were the big changes that took place? I'm genuinely confused by this assertion if 2e to 3e is...

D&D General D&D's Utter Dominance Is Good or Bad Because...

Please give an example of a ttrpg that has made significant changes from one edition to another? I'm really just trying to understand what would be considered a "significant" change...

D&D General D&D's Utter Dominance Is Good or Bad Because...

Yeah I'm finding the argument that OD&D to 5e doesn't represent major mechanical changes between the versions of the game to be... strange. This feels more like an argument for them not making the major mechanical changes for a particular preference.

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

Ehhh, for me Daggerheart feels like it has too many fiddly bits, and too much to track to be beer & pretzels... especially if you're having more than 1 or 2 beers.

What 4e mechanics are they using? If anything I see some 13th AGE and FITD....

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

I think that would be fine for them... I'm more talking about things like tracking hope & fear (as well as what they can be used for), spending action tokens, using character tokens for bonuses, tracking amount of damage vs. threshold, hit points vs. stress, multiple cards... also things like...

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

I'm interested in Daggerheart but my first impression from glancing over it and watching the videos is that this game seems more fiddley and also puts more cognitive load on the players (as well as the GM) than 5e does... (or maybe it's that the cognitive load seems harder to transfer to the GM)...

D&D General Styles of D&D Play

What possibiities?? With magic and skills and class abilities we have 3 ways to approach survival... take away magic and we have 2.

D&D General Styles of D&D Play

My point is that a survival game can be based around various resources only one of which is food... in a world with magic the possibilities are even greater.

D&D General Styles of D&D Play

Typically people need much more than just food to survive.

Isn't almost any survival gameplay contrived?? I can't think of a single example where it's not that's just part of the genre.

I really don't get this obsession with food as central to survival gameplay...
