I think the main question is… squished, and then what? 2d6 damage isn’t likely to kill most characters

For a successful roll, I’d allow the target to choose… ride the pillar up or step to the side just in time. Or randomly roll to see which situation they end up in. In some cases it might be advantageous to be up higher out of reach. Once the pillar is in place, they can get down with an...

I have DungeonDraft but alas, haven’t messed around with it much. The same assets can be used as tiles in Foundry, and I do use them there a fair amount.

Subscribing at lower tiers you still get great static maps you can use in any VTT, including in Foundry to build your own scenes. Tons of other resources too. I often use Limithron’s Assets pack in other rpg worlds in Foundry to dress up maps.

I’m a Patreon member for Luke’s Pirate Borg content. At the highest level you get tons of Foundry scenes ready made. Only need to sign up for a month to get all of the existing content, including all kinds of ship deck plans

For those who backed the Book of Magic KS, what are your thoughts on the nerf to the Protector spell? Especially the part where the spell ends if the recipient moves…

Yeah, I keep refreshing my DTRPG account page to see if the file has shown up yet! The KS email about it went out at noon CST, EOD Swedish time, and said "if you don't see it in 24 hours..." so it might be sometime tomorrow, I guess. Ask me about my acronym problem...

The same that happened Gygax happens to Rein-Hagen?

There was also the parallel development of Nightlife and VtM, the former releasing just a few months before the latter, but never found the same audience. Possibly due to differences in distribution and production values.

This is why the Heroic Abilities (akin to Feats in D&D) Defensive and Fast Footwork really change things for a PC (or even an tougher NPC). The character can parry or dodge (respectively) without using up their action, as long as they have Will Power points to spend. (I also love the Will Power...

Interested in checking out non-D&D fantasy "old school" ttrpgs

Another vote for The Fantasy Trip. The recent edition is pretty much the same as the game from the 70s with a little house cleaning, but is getting a decent amount of support from Steve Jackson Games with new material and support for the game. And another vote for Dragonbane, which was...

    Congrats To 2025's ENnie Nominees!

Yeah, the "Author, Art, Editing" etc. should be bullet pointed or something under each entry title.

Hacking Blades In The Dark With John Harper And Deep Cuts

QQ: To run one of the many Forged in the Dark games, does one need the Blades in the Dark book, or are they (normally) complete games unto themselves?

With the upcoming Book of Magic, seems like one could cherry-pick a list of spells and create one's own "white magic" tradition. (possibly adding some of your own or from 3rd party sources). However, such a tradition probably should include a few offensive spells lest a practitioner feel useless...

    Magazines White Dwarf Reflections #22

Steve Jackson Games was formed after Steve left Metagaming. That company kept the rights to The Fantasy Trip (until just a few years ago), so SJG came out with Man To Man, a combat game that was an obvious expansion and evolution of Steve’s work in TFT. Man to Man itself was just a stepping...

For those wondering where @Von Ether got that number from, apparently there will be nice graphical listings of spells in each school by rank, showing their prereqs:
