Dragonbane Bestiary Adds Antagonists And Allies To Your Game

I haven't read Dragonbane, but I've heard that creatures actions are randomly determined round to round. Could anyone give any more insight into how that works, and do the creatures in the new Bestiary have actions listed to work with this mechanic?

Giantlands, reviewed by David Flor on Twitter.

Note: Six Flags Great America (Chicago-land) is not open year-round. It opens this year on April 20th through September 2nd. I can't imagine Giantland being a year-round theme park up in the near-Great White North.

so, Culture, Faith, Science and Trade

I’ve always equated arcane magic (wizards) with science. Clerics/priests gain their magic from faith in powerful supernatural entities. Wizards study the laws of (super)nature and spells are their applied knowledge (like scientists and engineers) in 3rd edition, I made two other sources of...

D&D (2024) Should Green Flame Blade and Booming Blade be in the new PHB?

That’s why I said “next melee attack”, not “next Attack action”. So you‘d get additional damage on the first attack of the Extra Attack feature. It would also apply to attacks taken as a reaction, which is a positive IMO. Note that the cantrips are already “pure extra damage” to a melee weapon...

D&D (2024) Should Green Flame Blade and Booming Blade be in the new PHB?

They should make the cantrips take a bonus action, and have them apply to the caster’s next melee attack before the end of their next turn. Not having the attack as part of the casting would go a long way toward making them more balanced. GFB could even warrant a little damage boost with this...

D&D (2024) Should Green Flame Blade and Booming Blade be in the new PHB?

As I read it, @tetrasodium's referring to your comment that Sneak Attack is basically equivalent to the Fighter's multi-attack, not that the cantrips can be combined with a multi-attack. BTW, if you look through the compiled Sage Advice doc, the ruling there is that cantrips do stack with Sneak...

D&D (2024) Should Green Flame Blade and Booming Blade be in the new PHB?

I like this approach. Just wondering if you change the damage type to match the initial attack, or is it just a fluff change?

D&D (2024) Should Green Flame Blade and Booming Blade be in the new PHB?

That’s exactly how I’ve reflavored it on multiple characters. Sure”piercing” may have more resistant creatures than “thunder”, but as you say, it makes more sense narratively (and thematically for these particular PCs)

Evil Genius Games and Netflix Settle 'Rebel Moon' TTRPG Lawsuit

Which is kinda funny, since Rebel Moon the movie is already pretty much Star Wars with the IP stripped off. So a new game would be a knock off of a knock off.

Which came first: the damage or the protection?

You’ll note I put “strategic“ in quotes. It’s not even quite as strategic as tic-tac-toe, where, if both players understand the game, will always end in a draw. I’m not opposed to some gamey elements in my RPGs, but they should have a purpose and still have something to do with the narrative...

Which came first: the damage or the protection?

I’m in agreement with @Yora. It’s also extremely gamist: regardless of who goes first, once the half value of one side is known (which can be figured out even if a player chooses to roll), the opposing player knows if they can automatically beat that half value with their own, or must roll to...

WotC: 'We made a mistake when we said an image not AI'

I think lumping everything labeled “AI“ under the same umbrella is going to be problematic. A tool for filling in blank spaces where something was selected and deleted is not the same as generating an entire image in the style of a particular artist. The ai training for the type of tools in the...

D&D (2024) Jeremy Crawford Gives an Overview of the New Unearthed Arcana

Bladeward is weaker than Shield. Shield is a static +5 against all attacks, where Disadvantage is only equivalent to a -5 penalty when the opponent has a 50% chance to hit. Higher chances to hit actually lessen the effect of Disadvantage. Also, Bladeward doesn’t stop magic missiles. As for the...

D&D (2024) Ranged nerf by buffing Prone condition.

I think the biggest advantage ranged attackers have in the current edition is when firing into melee. Sure, per the PHB, there might be cover penalties applied, but compare to shooting at a relatively stationary enemy using a flipped table for cover, also fairly stationary (typically). In...

WotC WotC Removes Release Dates From Promo Images For 2024

This combined with the terrible communication for the D&D TV channel (how many on here knew it was already launched a couple of weeks ago?), whoever is handling marketing for the D&D brand should be sweating a bit about their job.

RPG Crowdfunding News – Worlds Without Number, Fe Borg, Mage Hunter, and more

Glad to see a KS for Death in Space. That’s a cool game and setting with the same type of permissive license as Mork Borg for third party content creators. While MB has literally well over a thousand pieces of 3PP content in just a few short years, DiS really hasn’t had nearly the same level of...

What Do You Do With A Zombie Sailor?

Counterpoint: the rainbow exploding skull on the Ash effects page. Also, regarding Mork Borg, I've successfully run a campaign for the past year, though with only one Misery to go, the End is nigh. Unlike modern D&D, the key is focusing on the ongoing story (and immediate adventures) rather...

    D&D (2024) The new warlock (Packet 7)

But you won't necessarily have the powers/spells that reflect those draconic patrons the way a Draconic Sorcerer does its lineage (or would, if they gave them some bonus spells known!) I mean, there's tons you can do narratively for all kinds of class backgrounds/power sources in D&D. But I...
