Louisiana is set to be *smacked*

(edited out the entire thing) Here's my take on it, along with this prelude: I have settled happily into my own beliefs, thanks. I am hardly a god-commenter at any rate, unless you choose to ask me specifically what those beliefs are, and I doubt many here have a clue what my beliefs are...

Swarms for larger creatures? What Book?

It depends on the creature I guess - terrasques probably come in swarms and archliches come in mobs.

Swarms for larger creatures? What Book?

"Uhoh, looks like you've stumbled into an angry swarm of ancient red dragons!"

So, life (on Earth) is much older than what was thought...

Collisions of that magnitude release enough energy to melt both bodies into slag, so the surface is completely reformed. The conventional model puts it somewhere before about 4.5 billion years ago, which is when the present lunar and terrestrial surfaces seem to have formed. The critical clue is...

After 29.9 years, at peace with myself ... kinda wierd.

The guy who always has to have the last word is you? How did you keep track of those hundreds of userids?

How to get rid of lots & lots of unneeded books?

Old computer books have about the same value as old phone books. You might be able to donate a few of the more generic ones to 3rd world book programs, but other than that they're not much good for anything but feeding the recycle bin.

    Two Headed Nickel

If the dates are different, it's probably a novelty piece. One way to make them is to grind down the reverse of two nickels and then bond them together. Now a three-headed nickel, that would be something.

So, life (on Earth) is much older than what was thought...

Some of this communication problem lies in misunderstanding the term "random." Random simply means that a process has multiple possible outcomes and that the outcome is not known beforehand. It doesn't mean "anything could happen," as many people seem to think. Evolution is a completely random...

So, life (on Earth) is much older than what was thought...

Hmm... if only it had been a couple hundred million years, then some sort of primitive life might have emerged.

    Medieval Cookery Seminar

Some of that stems from the greater variability of the ingredients. Even with modern flour, you have to adjust a little for the age, moisture, gluten, and such. Modern recipes don't even start with "sift the flour" anymore.

So, life (on Earth) is much older than what was thought...

I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility that the pre-lunar Earth already had a reasonably evolved surface. It would have been a fair bit smaller at the time. A couple hundred million years might be enough for some sort of primitive life to emerge.

    Medieval Cookery Seminar

Only the wealthy. Dry grain products were the winter staple, breads, gruels, and porridges especially. Preserving milk wasn't really necessary if you had a cow though. I highly recommend http://www.godecookery.com/ Generally, my experiences with Roman food have been a lot better though - Apicius...

    Medieval Cookery Seminar

I've tried authentic medieval recipes and it quickly dawned on me why we no longer eat medieval food.

So, life (on Earth) is much older than what was thought...

Well, the 3.5 BYA date is based on fossil evidence, not models of hypothetical processes.

So, life (on Earth) is much older than what was thought...

The 3.5 ish billion YA date for life has been around for a while, but 500 million YA is a much later date for the lunar capture than I've seen.
