If you are trying to introduce him to role playing in general rather thin just D&D type role playing I would suggest mouse guard, it is a game aimed at young players. It’s centered around role playing, has simple rules and not a lot of math.

Could some one tell me what book the “Grove Lord” is in? I know I have it’s stats but I can’t remember what book they are in. Also Grove Lords and Thorn-spawn are one of my favorite monsters but I can’t find a lot of lore on them so if you have any cool/ uncommon info I’d love to hear it.
