    D&D 5E Starter Set impressions

    D&D 5E Starter Set: Except 7

Still very much alive (I think). Still sane also (I need a few more forum posts before I become unstable). Not sure what's not to believe; young and full of imagination is something that's never changed and never will, although today's culture may have beaten some of that out (...

    D&D 5E Starter Set: Except 7

I started playing D&D in 1978 when all we had was a copy of Judge's Guild Ready Ref Sheets; just stats and no flavour text (and certainly no Internet). I remember we were too young to even know what a dervish was. But boy did we play the crap out of it, and I'm still here X years afterwards...

    D&D 5E Starter Set: Except 7

Thanks. That makes a lot of sense. Perhaps this is an example where designing a simpler subsystem for monsters would have saved a lot of space, rules, time, etc. rather than slavishly sticking to a single universal system. I like unified systems to a degree, but don't agree with them if they end...

    D&D 5E Starter Set: Except 7

Wait, the monsters have to have full stats recorded?! Like knowing what the charisma is for an ochre jelly is in any way relevant? What a faf, rules for rules sake. Sorry, this game is not for me and obviously the OSR talk has just been lip service.

    D&D 5E Starter Set Excerpt 5

Hmmm, oversized, awkwardly shaped, and unbalanced weapons plus spiky armour that would do nothing but attract weapons to you and make you more vulnerable. How I hate this meme that has infested fantasy art for so many years. Not my taste I'm afraid. Still, for what it is, it's well executed and...

Adventurer, Conqueror, King (ACKS): Roll20; UK time zone

A campaign using the Adventurer, Conqueror, King system (ACKS). The characters will be based in the city of Parsantium (by Richard Green) with the aim of sandboxing, but typical objectives focused on dungeon crawls (Lost Caverns of Thracia, Dark Tower, Barrowmaze, etc.). More along the...

Fantasy Adventures with Byzantine Flair in Parsantium - City at the Crossroads (for Pathfinder RPG)

An excellent review and I agree with all of it. I think your comment, "... contains undiluted elements of ancient Earth cultures, which can feel a bit jarring at times when juxtaposed against more fantasy elements." is spot on and the main criticism I have of the book. The art didn't bother me...

D&D 5E Tyranny of Dragons Panel at PAX East Today

OK, so it looks like super heroes and infeasibly impractical armour is still in.

D&D 5E Monte Cook Leaves WotC - No Longer working on D&D Next [updated]

I wonder if the corporate bean-counters have decided that an open playtest is not necessary and just too much hassle. I could imagine them not appreciating the effect that would have on the community and Monte deciding he can't go further under that type of sell-out.

Adventurer Conqueror King as a preview of D&D Next?

+1 Seems the blood in the water over the 5e announcement has caused a bit of a feeding frenzy.
