So ... We're trying to not offend orcs and drow? Making sure I have this right.

Dungeon of the Mad Mage Delayed By One Week!

If I'm not mistaken, It's a map pack with multiple maps, and they are vinyl, not the tear out paper kind. But yeah it can get kind of expensive these days. The big maps are not really needed to run the adventure though.

Two Page Preview for Dungeon of the Mad Mage

Love that art. I was a little worried about how this book would come together, but reading these pages makes me feel better and more excited about it.

[Poll] Vote For The Top 10 Horror RPGs!

Since I don't know many of these, you guys mind telling me why you think the one you vote for is so good? It might make me interested in checking one or two out.

Worlds of Design: “All About Me” RPGs (Part 1)

One of the things you mentioned, about players talking over each other: I try to emphasize to my players that in combat, they only have time to utter a short sentence on their turn, not have drawn out strategy discussions. I also emphasize to them that having strategy discussions other than a...

Spelljammer …Wait till you see Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage (Spelljammer?)

Who made that rule? I'm not a big fan of mega-dungeons usually, although I don't mind one existing in the world with a history like undermountain. The largeness of it is part of the lore; something the adventures can get lost in if they choose to, but it's completely optional. But if someone...

Spelljammer …Wait till you see Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage (Spelljammer?)

Well, Undermountain is 8 or 9 main levels, and multiple sub-levels. It's HUGE. I thought they had made the claim that this book would cover all of the levels. I took that to mean, it would cover them all exhaustively, which frankly would be impossible in a single book without cutting major...

Spelljammer …Wait till you see Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage (Spelljammer?)

This makes it look like this is more of an adventure through Undermountain rather than a complete guidebook on it (which I didn't think could be done in a single book anyway). This makes me a bit less excited about it, honestly. Still excited, but less so. I guess I'll have to collate all the...

D&D 5E What DM flaw has caused you to actually leave a game?

I think that's fair. My policy is somewhat context dependent. I would definitely never question a DM or offer them my thoughts on a rule without being asked if it's a group of people I've never played before and we weren't close friends. Among my current group, we've been close friends and have...

D&D 5E What DM flaw has caused you to actually leave a game?

IMO, correcting a DM on a rule when he/she has not asked for help on rules corrections is rude and in bad form. I'll never do it during a session. I'll wait until after a session and bring it up. If the DM says it's ok to help with rules corrections, then I'll bring up clear rule mistakes, but I...

D&D 5E What DM flaw has caused you to actually leave a game?

That's a problem with that DM, not the 5th edition system. The rules say that if you are attempting to do something with no chance of failure, then there is no need for a roll. You just succeed.

D&D 5E What DM flaw has caused you to actually leave a game?

Ok, but I'm curious. If you had a player who asked, "do I know who it is," at your table, what would you say to that player in response?

D&D 5E What DM flaw has caused you to actually leave a game?

I'm agreeing with a lot of your perspective, but man are those some hairs you're splitting with that answer. If she says, "Do I know who she is?", what more do you want her to say? "I would like to use my brain to try to pull out any memories I have of seeing this in the past."? Take the snark...

D&D 5E What DM flaw has caused you to actually leave a game?

I sort of agree with a lot of your perspective. However, where you may go wrong (and I say "may," because I'm enjoying this discussion and I'm interested in your response) is that you are making a delineation between the DM making assumptions on one hand with things like saving throws (a...

    Running a Stand-in PC

You can bring this up in Session 0, but I know you're past that now. I would ask your players if they feel comfortable playing another character sheet when someone's absent. Some people like to, some people don't. In my group, most people don't, because they are too focused on their own...

D&D 5E Deck of Many Animated Things

I would really like to get some more of these cards funded, so if you could spend your money to help me get at least the full set of level 1 cards and below, that would be swell. Thank you very much. :P...
