D&D General Hasbro activist begins proxy fight, urges Dungeons & Dragons spinoff

Hasbro doesn't relinquish something once they get it. I would be greatly surprised if they cut out WotC, especially since it wouldn't surprise me if WotC was quite a huge chunk of their income. I wouldn't be against it, but I don't see it happening.

D&D 5E What are your thoughts on the DnD Next playtest sorcerer compared to the final 5e sorcerer?

If WotC would have been more open to spontaneous innate spellcasting coming from something other than dragons at the time (just about every sorcerer origin pre-5e was from a dragon getting freaky with a humanoid sometime in the distant past), they might have thought of something other than a...

D&D 5E PC races that a DM has specifically excluded from their campaign and why

I don't have humans, halflings, half-elves, half-orcs from the PHB. Gnomes are changed, tieflings are changed. Extra subraces of dwarf and elf. Races added from other books plus a number of homebrew races. Humans are gone because I got tired of every NPC being human and PC being human. So they...

D&D General Defining your campaing through art? Or how I learned to embrace anime elf ears (image-heavy)

I have looked through various images over the last decade or so on the internet to get inspiration for my setting. Old Elmore-like art, to anime, furry, and so on. Finding certain images while looking for others have made me change some things I had originally seen as "set in stone" when it came...

D&D General My Problem(s) With Halflings, and How To Create Engaging/Interesting Fantasy Races

Tasha's is rather new, so we will see if Artificer gets anything added to it subclass or spell-list wise in the next player-facing book. I don't have much confidence in that being true.

D&D General My Problem(s) With Halflings, and How To Create Engaging/Interesting Fantasy Races

That's a WotC thing. They make all these extra things in other books (tabaxi, warforged, artificer, goblin, etc), and then forget they ever exist. I love the artificer, but it makes me sad that we will practically never see anything new with them. Because if it doesn't exist in the PHB, it...

D&D General Continuing a Campaign (with the same PCs) after a TPK

I had this happen recently. I "fixed" it by having their NPC companion (the only one to survive the fight, by running away) recover a chunk of their body, take it to a druid, and they got reincarnated into new bodies. Since it was still level 1, they didn't have the diamonds required, so now...

D&D General Things That Bug You

A few of the things that bug me or Undead not being templates. It was one improvement Pathfinder did over 3rd. 5e's way of doing animal companions. It's gotten a bit better as the years have gone on, but it's the original implementation and WotC's reluctance to modify anything that came in the...

    D&D 5E Auroborus: A Mountain-shattering Rock-and-roll D&D World from WoW Developers

As @grimslade said, it's probably for the TM capabilities. Also, perhaps this world serpent Metzen speaks of is gold in color? Auro being the word for gold (at least, a form of the word anyway). As for the setting itself? I'm not sure. Metzen seemed like a good dude back when I played WoW. I am...

D&D 5E Poll: What adventures would you want officially updated for 5E

I don't see them updating the Paizo adventures, because there's probably a legal headache there (probably why Paizo themselves haven't done the same). Personally, I would love to see Rahasia updated. Having run that back in 2019, some things didn't translate well, and I couldn't come up with...

D&D 5E New Unearthed Arcana: Folk of the Feywild!

I think maybe you quoting like this pings their alerts for each one? That might be Jasper's problem with your replies. I am not entirely sure as I haven't experienced such, but that would be my guess. As for the topic at hand: Having a more fey hobgoblin might be great. Honestly, the base...

D&D General What Have You Liked Most About Each Edition (+)

1e - Played a single session in like 1995 or so. It was after school while waiting for my parents to come pick me up. I was a wizard of some sort, and the DM had me searching in a cavern for a spellbook to use for my spells. It lasted 20 minutes. So I guess my favorite thing about that is it was...

    D&D General Identity of Monsters Post-Alignment (+)

While at the moment I have a bit of "monoculture" for the various peoples that inhabit my world, I also have only focused on one continent. My biggest departures (I think?) are my gnomes, gnolls, and goblinoids. My gnomes aren't the illusionist trickster fae wannabes of typical D&D. They used...

D&D General What have you done with Orcs in your games?

My orcs are mutated elves. The elves came to be from the pairing of fey creatures and my homebrew plant race. Due to this heritage, elves mutate rather easily (it's the justification for all the various types of elf subraces you seem to find). There are 3 subraces of elf that resemble the...

D&D General What editions of Dungeons & Dragons do you like?

All the ones I've played. I may have played a game of 1e, but it was a single session 25 years ago that I don't even count it. So I checked all but 1e and 4e. Pathfinder 1e... I like it overall, but the type of people that played it ruined that edition for me. Too many people focused just on...

D&D General Roleplaying Motives - 200 pages of answers?

I'm sure he is referring to that "What's the appeal to the weird races" thread that has spiraled into many, many, MANY variant tangent threads to where I gave up after page 60-something, because it had turned into DM bad if restrict player options and the myriad of arguments that particular...

D&D 5E Did you like one Playtest version better than the final 5e PHB?

While there isn't one specific packet, there are numerous things from the old packets that I miss, and would have liked to see implemented. The original sorcerer, which was a bit more melee based, and had a d12 for hit die, because WotC being WotC equates innate magic power coming solely from...

Harkness Test might be a better judge.

D&D 5E What is the appeal of the weird fantasy races?

Oh. Sorry. I thought you were being negative in your comment. So I do apologize about my own comment. By the time I stopped playing in that game, she had 5 levels of paladin, a level of barbarian, and 4 levels of warlock I think. It's been over a year. RP wise, she was fun. Combat wise, not the...

D&D 5E What is the appeal of the weird fantasy races?

Such an amazingly profound statement with so little purpose.
