    Help with damage calculations DPR

Thanks guys! So, I'm trying to balance styles against eachother, and I'm a bit at loss. How would you proceed, I mean compared to say a style that always rolls 2 damage dies, and another that only do the normal thing 1 roll to thit and 1 damage die? 1) Style 1. Roll to hit + pick best one of 2...

    Help with damage calculations DPR

Hi! I'm thinking of designing a system and have a bit of strouble figuring this one out. I have this idea of a fighting style that's a bit chaotic. MIght be fun for some people. But I'm not certain how to calculate the DPR (Damage Per Round) for this style. The idea is that the character...

Hi there, does anyone know where one might find all the old playtest docs? I just wanted to check some things, but I can't seem to find them on my computer anymore.

Creating a full viking world, need an outside oppinion

The vikings were only a small part of a much larger population of tradesmen, farmers, craftsmen, hunters, fishermen, and so on. The ethymological origins of the word viking is not agreed upon, some viable explanations include 1) laying in ambush with ships in a cove ("vik"), 2) people from the...

Creating a full viking world, need an outside oppinion

You could also use goblins and orcs as stand-ins for trolls i think. And deep gnomes.

Creating a full viking world, need an outside oppinion

This is debatable. Neither the vaner or the asar are immortal, but they do keep eternally young by eating apples of youth. They do represent two different families, but the asar are mainly mentioned in the icelandic edda, and the division between them is not clear. Dvärgarna are described as...

Creating a full viking world, need an outside oppinion

I think you could make light elves similar to the "vaner" (god-like creatures) and dwarves that live under ground, sort of like duergar or dark gnomes/trolls. Would fit in quite nicely with actual mythos. No dark elves or "cultured" dwarves though.

    D&D 5E New DMG Excerpt: It's A Trap!

Awwww... I was so stoked that rolling for trap DCs had made it from the play test. Bummer. It's so simple and elegant. Really disappointed now. If it's not in the I'll just houserule that all traps make a d20 + (static DC - 10) against the passive perception of the characters anyway, but I would...

    D&D 5E Passive skills - rolling for DC's

Thanks for clering this up everyone, I was a bit confused about this after a couple of session plying through Lost Mine of Phandelver. I'm stoked that this still seems to be the way things are moving, it just makes so much sense to me.

    D&D 5E Passive skills - rolling for DC's

I seem to recall that this was a thing in some of the playtests, or maybe it was in one of the L&L columns or something. Anyway, I really like the idea of rolling for, as an example, the trap's DC. Instead of simply comparing passive perception/investigation to a static DC. If this is no longer...

    D&D 5E 3 players, 3 starter set pre-gens. Which ones?

I'm about to run the starter set adventure, but I will only be able to run it with three players. I'm pondering what pre-gens would fit this scenario best. Can I let the players choose freely, or are some of the pre-gens better suited for this? Should I consider the backgrounds/ideals/etc, as...

D&D 5E Conversion to the metric system - how do YOU do it?

Hey guys! I'm really looking forward to trying out D&D 5e as soon as it's available here in Sweden. One thing that nags me a bit is the use of non-metrics in the system, since I've only DMed swedish games before that always use SI-units. So... how do you convert D&D to the metric system? Some...
