D&D 5E Best Rogue Archetype for a Bandit?

In my experience Assassinate is very hard to use, as it requires a stealthy party so you get surprise and that you beat them in initiative. If you go the Assassin route I would start 4 levels of rogue and then 4 levels of ranger (fighter being another good option). I would start human with...

April Rules FAQ: Great Weapon Fighting, Pact of the Blade, Green-Flame Blade, Booming Blade, Moonbea

I believe that Warcaster was the special feature Crawford is referring that would allow Booming Blade to be used as an opportunity attack.

D&D 5E [GUIDE] Dealing Death: Handbook of the True Assassin

It is a bonus action to move it to a new target and that is when I would start the engagement (clock on assassinate), but different DMs will rule differently. The extra attack feature not stacking is covered under the class abilities section of the multi-classing/customization chapter of the PHB.

D&D 5E [GUIDE] Dealing Death: Handbook of the True Assassin

Casting a spell with a duration puts you in turns, and starts the clock on the assassinate ability. Additional attacks between classes don't stack.

D&D 5E [GUIDE] Dealing Death: Handbook of the True Assassin

A 12 level fighter only has 3 attacks not 4. You can use a bonus action for another attack, but hunter's mark takes a bonus action; you won't be able to do both before their initiative comes up in the surprise round. To use assassinate you have to both surprise them and beat them in in...

D&D 5E [Modified] Needing help with character progression/concept

Lore bards do make great characters and I really like how they could work with your idea of infiltrator. One point of clarification though: You can use your bardic dice to cause the enemy to fail an ability check, but not a save. These are two different sets of rolls.

    D&D 5E Best Gish

I am big fan of Sorcerer's as gishes with the advent of the sword coast guide. You can use meta magic to cast a spell using quicken and follow up with one of the new attack cantrips. This comes online at 4th level. You also get the bonus of Con as a proficient saving throw and full caster...

    D&D 5E It's been a while, I need help building a suitable 5e cleric (NO MULTICLASSING)

Monks and Rogues can be sneaky so there is good synergy with a trickery cleric. Depending on the Barbaian, he/she could also be somewhat stealthy as well with ability to not use armor. Trickery also gives you access to dispel magic, which might be a good thing to have in the party, as you will...

    D&D 5E Help me optimize a Giant Frog/Toad build!!!

Step 1: Build an 8th level "Inspiring Hypnotoad" Start as a human Warlock Select Inspiring Leader at Level 1 Select The Great Old One patron Select +2 Cha at level 4 (Cha 18) Select Sculptor of Flesh at level 7 for Polymorph Select +2 Cha at level 8 (Cha 20) Step 2: ??? Step 3: PROFIT!!!

    D&D 5E Dwarven Battlerager Build

RE: Riposte vs Other Options I think what we are discussing here is opportunity cost. In some fights it may be worth it to take the extra damage from Riposte. In other fights the more reliable maneuvers may make more sense, particularly as they tend to have a greater impact on the...

D&D 5E Help choose a Bladesingers spell list.

Fear (3rd Level) is a very hard spell to cast from the bank ranks, so being a Gish you likely can achieve better positioning. The spell itself is very powerful in that it can clear out mobs between you and an enemy leader, and it causes them to drop the items they are holding before they run...

D&D 5E Can we optimize a Small Barbarian?

Good points. If your goal is to get in and be sticky you could take Sentinel feat for the improved opportunity attacks or the Martial Adept feat for a combat trick. I think Sentinel is likely to have a bigger impact in a fight. You could also keep Mobile for the extra maneuverability in...

D&D 5E [Modified] Needing help with character progression/concept

I would recommend 1-4 Warlock and pick up Shillelagh as a Cantrip using your tome ability. Do not take the Minor Illusion Cantrip, you will get that later as a Monk. You won't be much of a Monk, but you can role play being sort of like a monk using a Quaterstaff and Shillelagh. At level 4 pick...

D&D 5E Can we optimize a Small Barbarian?

Halfling Nimbleness: You can move through the space of any creature that is of a size larger than yours. Mobile (Feat): +10 movement. Don't Provoke against any target you attack in a round, regardless of if you hit. I know you said Bear totem Barbarian but... 5 Berserker Barbarian / 3 Hunter...

    D&D 5E Dwarven Battlerager Build

Precision Strike is more useful when combined with Great Weapon Master for doing damage when you can't grapple. You have a limited number of superiority dice and you are going to want to use them wisely. If you have a grappled creature shoved to the ground and you don't think you are going to...

    D&D 5E Dwarven Battlerager Build

Precision Attack is the reason to take Battle Master. Riposte, for example, is not as useful as using Precision Attack to allow you to land more of your hard hitting Great Weapon Master attacks. The nice thing about Battle Master is that you get to take more than one ability.

    D&D 5E Dwarven Battlerager Build

Precision Attack is also an amazing maneuver as it allows you to turn those near misses into hits. Depending on how much damage you do it is often the most useful way to use your superiority dice.

Multiclass Vengence Paladin for Curse of Strahd or no?

I disagree that booming blade and spell sniper don't work together as an attack is clearly needed. In reviewing the feat I did find a problem though, a first level human paladin does not cast spells and so does not qualify for the feat and can't take the feat at level 1.

    D&D 5E Dwarven Battlerager Build

I believe that pin is going to be useful about half the time I would want to grapple, but this is based on having multiple ranged combatants in most parties I have played in. I also think you are losing site of the fact that this thread is for a battlerager barbarian that has room for the feat...

    D&D 5E Dwarven Battlerager Build

Reading comprehension for the fail on my part, but the critique still stands. Characters designed around ranged spells (Warlock with EB for example) or ranged attacks (Fighters/Rogues with Sharpshooter for example) are going to do a lot less damage. You might not want to pin all of the time...
