This would be perfect. I'm still holding out for the dream WotC licensed app that does this with some customization features. Flipping through adventures and monster manuals during play and or making countless photocopies is by far the biggest annoyance of DMing for me.

I'd just start the players on the road with the wagon Gundren paid them to take to phandelver. To make its a pure one shot, have one of the players be the nephew/niece of Gundren, who is being held captive by Klarg in his den. I was the DM for 6 and it took us right at 4 hours from Gundren...

I started a campaign for my two experienced older brothers and their inexperienced children, and they had a blast with the random backgrounds, which initially I thought was a waste of time but it added so much to the role playing aspect. Advantage/Disadvantage is universally liked.

We have yet to use miniatures but I want to incorporate them for quest enders and such.

Same here. As a DM is tend to shy away from the pure role playing aspect and fill in the gaps with handouts or diaries and elaborate puzzles.

Exploration by far (including clues gathering and puzzles).
