    D&D (2024) D&D's Upcoming Digital Tabletop

My idea is that nothing is more immersive than your mind. All the efforts to make the game more immersive by visualize it by means of minis and scenarios, both real or virtual, are an illusion. The stuff you put down the table to make it more immersive ends up in a limitation of your fantasy...

Kyle Brink (D&D Exec Producer) On OGL Controversy & One D&D (Summary)

You are free to have your standards and to financially boycott whoever you want. Until this mechanism remains in the dominion of personal decisions is absolutely acceptable. What is wrong is when it become a system, a law, a common practice arbitrary conducted by big groups of power. In this...

Kyle Brink (D&D Exec Producer) On OGL Controversy & One D&D (Summary)

I buy a book if it is a good book. No question for me. I don't believe in opinion crimes. Every man deserves the right to eat and if his work is good he deserves to be paid. Maybe he is a very bad man but since he act legally all the rest is only untolerant witch-hunting and moral lynching. One...

Kyle Brink (D&D Exec Producer) On OGL Controversy & One D&D (Summary)

The idea of retire the material because the author express undesiderable ideas or act in a bad way find me very doubtful about the level of civilization. Being able to see the difference between an artistic work and its author would be a very easy task for rational people. Hope that in Italy...

Kyle Brink (D&D Exec Producer) On OGL Controversy & One D&D (Summary)

Devil hide in the details. What happens if, due to the lack of opportunity unfortunately given to poc, it results that white are largely the best candidates? Will the skills win over the fear of being considered a racist company? Unfortunately this very polarized climate sourrounding these...

Kyle Brink (D&D Exec Producer) On OGL Controversy & One D&D (Summary)

Strictly, quotas can have a side effect of excluding skills. If you have 2 positions, the first and second ranked both black and the third white, you would be forced to discard the second ranked. Umbran said the modern criteria avoid this and I trust him, even if i do not understand how.

I strongly promote that same opportunity (instead of quotas) is the correct way to achieve same representation.

Kyle Brink (D&D Exec Producer) On OGL Controversy & One D&D (Summary)

You are bending the concept. I don't mean that PoC are hired unskilled. I simply say that if you have to respect quotas you can find yourself in the sad position of excluding some talented people because the black/white/red/yellow/female/trans places are ended. More: quotas are disqualifying for...

Imaro, this is not the place to talk about that. Don't want to slip in the slope of moderation. I'm not glossing, I'm arguing that lack of contextualization generates monsters. End conversation.

Kyle Brink (D&D Exec Producer) On OGL Controversy & One D&D (Summary)

You can have only one of two criteria: skill or representation. If you introduce a quote it is very easy that you will be forced to exclude somebody skilled. It is not impossible to build a dream team with representation criteria, since skill are equally distributed. But you can easily risk to...
