    PF2 Playtest: 10 Things I Like

I wanted to make this thread for folks to list things they like about this edition and why. This is less for folks to snipe eachother or take apart their points. Heres my list of the first 10 things that popped into my head (not necessarily my top ten): 1. Weapons feel distinct and...

D&D 5E Great Weapon Mastery - once more into the breach! (with math)

I don't say that they don't play differently but they share more in common after taking these feats than they did before. They were more interesting and unique prior to having those feats since they were defined by a more disparate set of abilities. The rogue and swishy fighter were far more...

D&D 5E Great Weapon Mastery - once more into the breach! (with math)

I don't pretend to know your table. I am speaking to the overarching effect of allowing characters to define their characters with a either a fix set of poorly balanced feats or by overhybridizing their character with class dips. Again, not all of us feel the need to use the OPTIONAL rules...

D&D 5E Great Weapon Mastery - once more into the breach! (with math)

Two players of different classes using the same feat are less unique than two players of different classes relying on their own class abilities. It's not about the uniqueness of a particular build but instead of a player within a larger party. The more homogenized parties get (through shared...

D&D 5E Great Weapon Mastery - once more into the breach! (with math)

I already supported my claim. You do not wish to see any value in my statements and instead use specious reasoning, vague statements, or poor insults to back up your "points." Your unwillingness to listen was evident when called my post spam. Why should I keep trying to speak with you? Like I...

Look, like I said, we are talking past each other. So. See ya later. Go do your homework.

Man, relax. I am not going to convince you. That's fine. Enjoy your Polearm Master whatever or your Sentinel whatever. See ya.

D&D 5E Great Weapon Mastery - once more into the breach! (with math)

I think it will only add to your experience since there is less of a chance of a player taking a character option that will screw up the balance and unique character choices your party has fostered. I believe we are talking past each other at this point. Adios.

D&D 5E Great Weapon Mastery - once more into the breach! (with math)

It may be forgiving, but even if going non optimal, the use of feats and m/c still leads to a party with homogenized abilities and stale gameplay. This is a common issue in classless systems which people wrongly assume will lead to more unique characters. Instead, you end up with characters...

D&D 5E Great Weapon Mastery - once more into the breach! (with math)

It's the opposite. Two different classes with Sharpshooter play more the same than if they didn't have it.

D&D 5E Great Weapon Mastery - once more into the breach! (with math)

Don't knock it till you try it. It actually leads to MORE diversity and varying play styles. People can't rely on OP feats or build synergy to power through as easily. They also don't feel compelled to make the same character development choices time after time. Something I came to realize in...

D&D 5E Great Weapon Mastery - once more into the breach! (with math)

All my best 5E campaigns have removed m/c and feats. No one frets about munchkinny builds. Players don't have to worry over feat taxes. DMs don't need to worry about buffing monster damage thanks to Bard/Life Cleric overheal. There is no need to consult a chart to determine how high to jack up...

D&D 5E Great Weapon Mastery - once more into the breach! (with math)

Just remove feats and multiclassing. They are optional and they are pointless. 5e characters are already strong without the need to optimize AND archetypes/races already give you plently of variety. Problem solved. Moving on.
