D&D 5E Gun Mages & Warjacks: Iron Kingdoms Coming to 5E

I remember the original Iron Kingdoms setting from the early days of 3e. It was actually one of the things that brought me into 3e as it really showed that you could do a grittier darker fantasy setting with those rules that was really different from the shinier high fantasy of most DnD...

What can you use for DM's guild product

I am looking at creating material for using 5e rules for an modern urban fantasy setting. I have some questions about what i can and can't use and how i can and can't use them: 1 What can I refer to directly from the main books e.g. names of classes and class features, names of monsters...

    5e Modern Urban Fantasy

One of the things I liked about the early d20 boom was that it meant there were d20 rulesets for pretty much any genre you might want. I really like 5e but with the more focused scope of Wizards production and licencing there is less variety. I particularly miss good resources on how to use 5e...

There's A New Edition of Savage Worlds Coming!

As for which generic system is better, even generic systems aren't as generic as they claim to be and some do some things better than others. Savage worlds is immensely flexible and I have used it for a wide variety of settings but it doesn't do everything for every setting and it doesn't work...

There's A New Edition of Savage Worlds Coming!

I intend to buy this new edition, and probably be in on the kickstarter. For those who are concerned about cost and compatibility issues I think the announcement dealt with both of those by saying: "rest assured that the game is very compatible with previous editions and settings and we will...

    Same company. Probably same artists.

The Enemy Within Coming For WFRP 4!

Some of it is nostalgia, but mostly it's because THIS is the campaign that defined what WFRP was and how it differed from the DnD dungeon delve that people were used to. For many this was the first time they had role-played in a way that involved more investigation and more psychological...

    D&D 5E Freeform Magic System for 5e?

Has anyone tried to do an adaptation of one of the more freeform magic systems done for 3e for 5e? I remember there were at least two such systems - Green Ronin's True Sorcery (which I think was originally in the Black Company setting book) and Monte Cook's d20 version of the World of Darkness.

Release Star Trek Adventures: Core Rulebook Released in PDF!

FYI, having bought the PDF and looked at the character creation chapter, the game very specifically covers three eras - Enterprise, TOS, and TNG. BUT there appear to be more resources in the core book for TNG era and from a quick glance the art also reflects that.

D&D 5E Does Eberron need to be high fantasy?

Going back to the original question of whether Eberron is or has to be a High Fantasy/High Magic world, I would make a distinction between a world which is High Magic and one in which there is lots of magic. In our real world I can walk into any pharmacy and get a wide variety of medicines...

D&D 5E Does Eberron need to be high fantasy?

As a rabbi in real life (yes, really!), I find the discussion of religion in this game world particularly interesting. Ultimately religion is a complicated thing. Who defines it? The average folk who practice it, the theologians who interpret it, the institutions that represent it? The answer...

D&D 5E Does Eberron need to be high fantasy?

I agree, Magepulp is a better description! On another note, if someone really wants to do a lower magic version of Eberron, I always found the Iron Kingdom setting from Privateer Press to have some similar beats (nations recently at war, political intrigue, magic fueled tech) but grittier.

D&D 5E Does Eberron need to be high fantasy?

First, as others have said we need to define High Magic vs High Fantasy. The way magic works in Eberron was always about the idea that if you have a lot of magic around, as seems be the default for the DnD system, it would make sense for that magic to get used like technology and become more...

    D&D 5E Eberron popularity in 5E

As a great fan of Eberron, I have been reading this thread with interest. A few things: 1 I am not thrilled with the UA material for Eberron, but it works fine and I plan to run an Eberron game in 5e using it. I am confident it will work just fine. 2 I am also confident that we will -...
