    WOIN Different versions of 1.2?

Morrus is spectacular. Designer and customer service all in one, all the time. There are many good systems; there are very few designers like him. [Raises a glass] Eric

    WOIN N.E.W Cybernetics and Mechanoids

Its a really interesting exploit that could make for a great role-playing opportunity. To that end, I probably wouldn't gank it too hard, unles the player is really abusing it. But, if it's a problem, there's IMO two obvious ways to bring the power down. 1. Have the reload of "factory default...

    WOIN SolSpace Questions

I found it fairly easy to max out combat stats (6d6 skills, 21 defense) using the build guidelines. Sure, you have to build with that in mind, but if you want someone good at combat, it's pretty easy to do.

    WOIN Spartan Gambit Potential Errors

You're right. Well, if I do any more pregens for the other thread, I'll put in a "Suggested Equipment Package" section before the "Character build (for reference)" section.

    WOIN Spartan Gambit Potential Errors

I assumed that the player using a pregen would get to decide on their requisitioned gear before the first session started. Part of the "get to know your character" part of the session. I followed this notion when putting the pregens together for the other thread - I didn't kit them out because...

Captain Gudrun Gudrunsdottir An egotistical human diplomat who loves puns and word games. Gudrun Gudrunsdottir can trace her roots back to the first Viking ship to colonize Iceland. Her family tree includes a Nobel Laureate, a famous general, and more than one Prime Minister. She's currently...

    WOIN USF Officer Pregens

Last one for now. I think this one's my favorite. LTC “Tee” (T-800.120.405.7) An athletic synthetic engineer. Come with him if you want to live. The Alterra system used a large computer network (AltNet) to manage their economy. Unfortunately, it became sentient and tried to take over the...

    WOIN USF Officer Pregens

Mr. Onyx A tough as nails Mulluk marine who loves old movies and media Mulluk scientists injected young Onyx with crystal-altering drugs in an attempt to improve the race's poor flexibility. It didn't quite work, but what it did do is convince Onyx to leave his homeworld, it's scientists, and...

    WOIN USF Officer Pregens

Here's a fun one... Lt. ‘Fritz’ (Frist’Zll’Alz) A suave Changeling intelligence officer who didn’t do it, I swear! Fritz often gets in trouble. Fritz is often the first one blamed when something goes wrong. Fritz often deserves it… Frist’Zll’Alz (everyone just calls him Fritz) doesn’t talk...

WOIN Has anyone worked with WOIN/N.O.W. in the WWI era?

I'm no expert but AIUI most guns of the time were fairly large caliber; .44 etc. So you can probably just use the revolvers, some of the automatics, and the bolt-action rifles as listed (just rename them if you need to). Obviously the only machine guns they had were big heavy ones, but it's...

    WOIN What affects incorporeal

Displace magic offers a way to affect incorporeal opponents. 'Displace self' for your fist or 'displace metal' for your sword and you can get'em via the 'ghost touch' effect. AND the same combination of skill+secret lets you phase attack regular enemies, ignoring their armor.

    WOIN Career prerequisite questions

I was thinking 'transform spirit' as similar to 'transform water.' You do it to the door, door goes splash, you walk through. Door then reforms as wood on the ground. Now apply it to spirit. You do it to the door, and the door...does what? Becomes immaterial? Disappears? Becomes transparent goo?

    WOIN Career prerequisite questions

I've been thinking of it as an "element" that overlaps with the classic elements (air, fire, etc..). So Earth might affect all earth, while Nature can affect earth...that is 'unsullied' by human or other intelligent works. Fire can be used on all fires, while nature can be used on a naturally...

WOIN Any tips for beginners to WOIN?

Absolutely it can be played online. For an example (it's a couple years old now, I think), look up 'GM of Doom wacksteven' on Twitch. He ran both a NEW and OLD campaign using the system livestreamed over Twitch. There may be newer stuff too, but that's the one I remember.

WOIN Skill choices and character creation?

In NEW and in (forthcoming) OLD v1.2, standard run-of-the-mill humans have "Skill Choice: any." So I guess this problem is limited to NOW at the moment. And I don't know NOW enough to know how big a problem this is. Is it really the case that no Origin career provides the skill you need to...

    WOIN Maximum Dice Pools

Thanks very much for your description and discussion, it's very comprehensive! My first thought was, starting at Grade 4 might have been the cause of any early issue. With the way dice pools increase (1 at 1, 2 at 3, 3 at 6 etc..), I can easily believe that lower grade characters would more...
