Board Game Arkham Horror Getting an RPG from Edge Studio

What sequel trilogy? (And they did an Ep VII boxed starter set, IIRC. Maybe it wasn't working out for them.) As for the Mandalorian, yes, that might have been nice. I guess most of what's missing is related to the Mandalorians themselves. Pretty much everything else from the Outer Rim setting...

Five Things I Love About Shadow Of The Demon Lord

We played SotDL for several levels, and the character build options seemed imbalanced and impractical, also counterintuitive for people with a d20 background. I have played many different kinds of RPGs, and I had great expectations for SotDL on its release, also had a Warhammer fan among the...

    Game Design Masterclass: Going Diceless

It all sounds fine until you really deliberate what the shift away from the random means. Random means "In principle, I could get lucky even if I'm not the best." In Amber, the best-laid plan wins, if you manage to bring your high attributes into play and tend to avoid being pinned on your low...

RPG Crowdfunding News – Ultimate Kingdoms, Rocket Age, Fantastic Adventures, Quietus, and more

If a fantasy world is named "Revilo" I'm amazed no one on the team has Oliver as their first name...

D&D 3E/3.5 Jonathan Tweet: Prologue to Third Edition

I gave up on the forum interface after it ate my formatting the third time. What CR is it? :P

D&D 3E/3.5 Jonathan Tweet: Prologue to Third Edition

I think each edition of D&D has its virtues and its original sin.AD&D 1e collected the rules in a more organized manner and explained how to run games BUT it abandoned the spirit of "It's your game, make it your own." and moved strongly toward "Play it like I write it, that's best for you."...

The One Ring 2nd Edition Is Coming!

The One Ring stuff has always been top-notch. But the rest? All over the place. Still, I'm always the looking forward to more for this fine game. Good rules, good setting attention.

RPG Crowdfunding News – Ultimate Bestiary, Rifts (Savage Worlds): American Armageddon, The Blackest

110$ was still above my PDF price point for any campaign. 3 digits for PDFs...

News Digest: New D&D Class, New Star Wars and Star Trek Products, Amazon's Alexa Wants to Murder, an

It seems somehow like a "no news" week. Most of these are product announcements - like how is the release of "Conan the Brigand" news? It's the Xth release in a franchise announced and outlined in a KS years ago. If the News Digest stays like this it could be renamed to "In the stores soon"...

Top Games Played On FG In 2018: D&D, Pathfinder, Savage Worlds

Plus people worrying about PF is not really about diversity. It's yet another D&D. It's more like two players splitting the D&D market which is its own. Taking them out of the picture and making a chart of the rest would be interesting.

Top Games Played On FG In 2018: D&D, Pathfinder, Savage Worlds

Most European markets have D&D as second or third or worse contender, like Ulysses had cornered most of the German market with The Dark Eye like D&D the American. The US market is very focused but also very big. You can support an indie game around 150 backers. Of course living off of it is...

Staring Directly Into the Invisible Sun -- A Review

I really hoped to find a longer article given the rather high price point of this game. There's barely any information given.

It's that time of year again! Nominate Your Most Anticipated Games of 2019

I'm not so sure about that. Besides, Weird War wasn't Cthulhu mythos IIRC? So far, A!C has done quite fine. Given it already has a full SaWo & CoC line, a ToC and PDQ# conversion, it seems weird to bother. An attempt to reduce licensing cost? Still, I'm interested as with each release the 2d20...

SJG's The Fantasy Trip Opens To 3rd-Party Creators

Not to distract from arguing about WotC, I look forward to the outcome of the KS. I'll give it a spin and it's good to know that if you like it, you might just chose to publish for it. Though I don't exactly expect much traffic or revenue on Warehouse 23. Does anybody know how they are ranked...

Gale Force Nine Sign Master License for Dune ‘Games’; Modiphius Designing RPG!

Funny. I think of "God Emperor of Dune" to be the the deepest book of the series and the last two books an exciting fast-forward of the whole setting, something not many authors have the skills and ingenuity to do well. In comparison, books two and three are affairs that I have to make myself...

Monte Cook Games' New Kickstarter Is Your Best Game Ever

I don't think "Additional Consulting" for 5e is the same as being a main designer behind it. I respect Robin D Laws, but I like his fluff a lot better than his crunch. I love the podcast. I also do think that HQ2 and DramaSystem reflect rather strongly what he thinks a good game is about, and...

Monte Cook Games' New Kickstarter Is Your Best Game Ever

Robyn D Laws' idea of a good RPG seems to be HQ2 or DramaSystem. It is enough to make me skeptical about what this advice might be... On the other hand each was an attempt to bring something new to role-playing. There's always that. :)
