D&D 5E Best Name For A “Leader” Class?

I'd go for Commander, myself. Of the list, it's the most generic, as opposed to some others which refer to specific ranks. Warden and Sentinel are more generic, too, but, to me, don't say "leader" as much as "defender".

Looking for a good Sci-fi setting

I don't know if you're interested in the anime/manga direction, but there is the series Five Star Stories. It's a series that takes place over centuries, involving the unification/conquest of a small star cluster by the future Emperor. The governments are feudal in nature, the previous...

my players told me what they want in a rpg for the next campaign

Oh yes, I forgot one other possibility. A number of years ago, Monte Cook put out what was essentially an alternate 3rd Ed players handbook called Arcana Evolved, which presented new races and classes. Many of the classes are hybrid with different abilities than just the standard Fighter/Mage...

Passage of time in subterranean environments

Certain plants, like mushrooms, might have a life cycle they could follow. Or you could have a stalactite that drips water at a regular rate, which fills a cistern that has marks to indicate how much time has passed based on how full it is, and then is emptied at the start of the new cycle.

my players told me what they want in a rpg for the next campaign

Unfortunately, I don't have experience with any other Fantasy Hero editions except 3rd. A friend who was in the same game, but later moved across the country, did have a 5th edition campaign with the increased character points and he said that it was a much improved experience, with a lot more...

D&D 5E Sinister secret of Saltmarsh. THEY HECKING BURNED IT DOWN

Sounds like the Shalebridge Cradle from the third Thief game, Deadly Shadows.

my players told me what they want in a rpg for the next campaign

I'm not familiar with a lot of newer systems, but I have a couple sugestions. You could try Hero System's Fantasy Hero. The point-based system in the basic rules can be used to allow players to build and buy special moves and abilities for their characters, if you want, rather than just Stats...

Worlds of Design: A Time for Change

That's an interesting thought. What if magic only works because that universe's physics are "fuzzy", and so hard science, as we know it, doesn't exist. So even the art of chemistry/alchemy is a crap shoot, or at least difficult enough that only masters can produce something potent consistently...

Worlds of Design: A Time for Change

The one major difference between Earth history and most fantasy settings is the availability, and sometimes heavy proliferation, of magic. It's possible that, in a magic-heavy setting, that science and technological development might slow to a crawl. Sure, an alchemist could discover gunpowder...

    How would you roleplay this?

Like Tanner in The Bad News Bears movie (the original). Kid had quite the Napoleon Complex

Systems You Left after One Bad Experience

Palladium's Ninja's and Superspies. Didn't last hardly past character creation. It took all night and my dedicated martial artist had a character sheet 3 pages long from all the styles and moves. I don't want to read a book when referencing my character.

There's An Official ALIEN RPG Coming!

Well, base-level orcs, no, but they can have class levels. I'd consider a 10th level Orc Barbarian to be pretty intimidating.

There's An Official ALIEN RPG Coming!

Yeah, I'm agreeing with this. Not being completely familiar with whatever extended universe exists for the Aliens franchise, it looks to be xenomorphs (in one form or another), predators, and... pretty much that's it. While a few sessions might be cool, I can't see it as having much of campaign...

    Playing With Collectively "Owned" Characters

For myself, and most of the people I have gamed with, player-ownership is too ingrained. Playing my character for a session when I can't make it is one thing, but I like to get invested in my character's growth and development, so I would not even think of joining a game with collective control.

Worlds of Design: Why Would Anyone Write a RPG?

I made a basic system a long time ago, which I only recently decided to dig out, clean-up, and put out there on DriveThruRPG. I did it because: 1) I liked the challenge. 2) At the time, there weren't many quick and dirty systems out there that did what I was using the system for when designing...

    Idea's for Rival party.

For the War Priest, I am reminded of the Record of Lodoss War anime. The priest of the Goddess of War went with the villain side because their leader was charismatic and promised of deeds worthy of the Goddess' favor. The priest wasn't even evil, but devout to the tenets of the Goddess. Perhaps...

    Vampire's new "three-round combat" rule

I'm not a big fan of the Three Round Rule, either. In my view, if a situation is worth getting into combat about, then it's worth playing out. If it isn't, then maybe you should look at other forms of resolution.
