D&D General Give One Piece of DMing Advice

Communicate with your players. In game, out of game, while your players are taking a smoke break or stuffing their face before the session. Scheduling issues, players not liking their characters, rules interactions, ideas for quests, just talking to your players about these things for 1-2...

    D&D 5E Making it fair, unkillable/puzzle monsters

The plan is 1d4 years, this will happen a maximum of once per round, per character. It's not meant to be a deadly threat. It's more meant to give the opportunity for character changes.

    D&D 5E Making it fair, unkillable/puzzle monsters

I wrote it like this, Blink. At the beginning of each of the Angels turns, anyone who is observing them must make a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw. On a success they do not blink. If every person who is observing a given angel blinks then the angels entire turn happens while the characters are...

    D&D 5E Making it fair, unkillable/puzzle monsters

I actually didn't know there was a Dr. Who rpg, I appreciate it.

    D&D 5E Making it fair, unkillable/puzzle monsters

I'm perfectly okay with it not matching the show, I just felt like this would be a great Halloween adjacent session, and side benefit of helping me practice ramping up the tension.

    D&D 5E Making it fair, unkillable/puzzle monsters

They are not fans of the show this would be entirely up to my DM chops.

    D&D 5E Making it fair, unkillable/puzzle monsters

@iserith That's basically what I'm going for in these monsters yeah. So for foreshadowing what I'd considered and I'll edit op to add these. The main questgiver warns them of an unusual guardian. That no one has been able to defeat. Have an adventurer who managed to escape that they can talk...

    D&D 5E Making it fair, unkillable/puzzle monsters

I need some help with this one. I'm running a session this Sunday, where I'll be introducing my take on weeping angels from doctor who. I've got a couple of different ways that I think I would run them and I'm looking for some advice from other dm's. First. Run them as a fairly standard...

Questions about Unconscious (hex, sleep, wild shape, familiar)

    1) What happens to the pseudodragon? A) It lays on the ground unconscious but stable. B) It disappears, leaving behind no body. It disappears, the spell description states when it's hp hits zero, lethal or non-lethal doesn't change that. 2) What happens to the druid? A) The druid is now a...

Looking for the best/cheapest tools to build out a character with the most possible source material

That does make sense, I'm shocked they haven't been taken down yet. I'm going to edit my original post so that I don't get in trouble.

Looking for the best/cheapest tools to build out a character with the most possible source material

I personally use redacted I don't think it's missing anything. also there is an app on the play store called 5th edition character creator that's good for lvl 1 and can level characters for a one time payment of 2.99 i think.

Did some math on what levels to give exotic mounts, would like your opinions!

For the wyvern I wouldn't give it until at least level 10 at the earliest. Then I'd have it not obey his commands until he's made x number of animal handling checks, maximum of one a day with a 20 counting as 2 successes, and a 1 loses a success. Or until he's proven himself worthy by killing...

    magic ring

Seems brokenly powerful, and I can't tell if it alters the duration or not. I'm going to assume not. Concentration free haste Shadows of moil and hex Bless & guidance on self Shield of faith and haste plus a shield spell all at once Stoneskin+barkskin and a wildshaped druid would be one tanky...

D&D 5E [5E] OotA polearm-wielding human who can see in the dark

Personally I would talk to your DM and see if they would allow it anyway. My DM has been fairly good with this kind of thing.
