Technomagicon: Craft Skill (v2) & Ordinary People (v4) [Updated 06Jul08]

Ah, well this makes sense. I didn't catch the "common feats" bit.

Technomagicon: Craft Skill (v2) & Ordinary People (v4) [Updated 06Jul08]

On the balance issue, I would think it's clear. Frex, a 10th level combat encounter assumes players have powers/feats/etc at 10th level. If they've spent these on features not useful in that context, then they're not as powerful as a characters of their levels are expected to be, and then it's...

Technomagicon: Craft Skill (v2) & Ordinary People (v4) [Updated 06Jul08]

I have a similar concern to what others have expressed. Perhaps I should keep it to myself, but there seems like too much thoughtful effort here to just pass it by. My first contention would be that you'll blow game balance all to hell, since (let's face it) 4E is a combat-oriented system...

    D&D 4E Favorite 4E race

Ah, yes, the PEF syndrome -- elves, Vulcans, Romulans, ... (For those not in the know, that's "Pointy-Eared.. err... Fellow [or whatever 'F' you choose]".)

Because it's probably being done by the lowest bidder.

    The Compendium is Live

I'm running a few extensions, but nothing drastic and nothing that's given me grief in the past (although this doesn't eliminate it as a possiblity). Reporting it would have been the right thing to do (although I didn't, bad user). On the one hand, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the...

    The Compendium is Live

Considering my post, it probably is? What does that mean? Because (given Firefox's market share), I expect a basic form submission on a website to work in Firefox? There was a time when these things were touch and go with browser inconsistencies, but that's no longer the case. I've...

    The Compendium is Live

Nope, it's nothing like that (I'm pretty much anything goes), just poorly, unprofessionally implemented/tested code.

    The Compendium is Live

Hardly suprising. I couldn't even register for access to Dragon articles, etc (DND Insider?) using Firefox, had to dust off IE. That's Web Dev 101 stuff.

Not all archtypes have to be Classes

Did you really *mean* this? Normal unarmed damage is 1d4, so that would be 2d4? 0.5 point less average damage than a great sword? How about using the next die up (1d6 instead of 1d4)?

    4e D&D GSL Live

I stand corrected! I had that thought before the reading of the rules was fully resolved, so it would be an interrupt. :p

    Romeroesque zombies

C'mon, noone has any feedback? Should I have just put my additions in my post at the top of the thread? (Is that the defacto standard in these here parts?)

    4e D&D GSL Live

I'm so surprised that this is the first I've heard this. It's just what I've thought all along as well -- the rules read like M:tG cards. My immediate reaction was to think it would be easier to track things if I created decks for players. (I'll refrain from giving my $0.02 on my preferences...

power balance - h4ter needs help

Actually, my post didn't get across what I was trying to say. I quoted your bit about healing surges because it sounded like the beginnings of a feat. IMHO, spending healing surges to regain use of a power is more in the spirit the rules as I understand them than some sort of power swap math...

    Romeroesque zombies

I follow what you're saying and it's appreciated, think I was heading in that direction with the bloodied bit. I'd still like to figure a way to have that "Oh, you've got to shoot them in the head moment" as per every one of the genre flics, and strategies for dealing with the menace revolving...

    Romeroesque zombies

I'm toying with the idea of creating a World War Z themed campaign (but set in nearly the classic D&D setting). As well as general ideas (Shadowfell tie-in?), I'm soliciting ideas on how to make the "head-kill"/mutilatable zombies work. I really like Zombie Weakness and Zombie Grab, thought it...

D&D 4E My Proposed 4e House Rules (so far)

Crunch-wise, just factor them into treasure at one fifth their value (the "meltdown" value). Fluff-wise, either: Are you sure the recycling philosophy isn't just fine? Once it's been turned into magic dust, the magic dust is not tainted; seems like using it for good would be just the thing...

    My vision for the Barbarian.

Isn't this almost the textbook definition of a striker?

power balance - h4ter needs help

This is sounding like fodder for feats to me. I don't have enough experience with the rules yet to make a suggestion, but it does feel like feats are the appropriate way to deal with this issue.

    D&D 4E 4e Character XML Schema

Woah, there. Let's be careful about our terminology. This is clearly geeky, not nerdy. :p
