At My Most Burned-Out in 35 Years

If they can't be bothered to level up their PCs, learn the rules, or keep notes, you have, IMO, a serious problem of expectations. They seem to expect to show up and be entertained. Or they loathe 4e (not a bad thing). Maybe switch to a better, less demanding system? Then start charging them...

    What is your wishlist?

It should, but I have run so many campaign in it that I'm tired of it. And the lore is too dense for my current group, none of whom know anything about the setting. WH in its various flavors requires, IMO/IME, players who know and enjoy the setting. Although with the development into Lusteria...

    What is your wishlist?

Not products you are waiting for, but stuff you dream of finding. Mine: 1) A good hardcore modern system in the style of Phoenix Command, Millennium's End, Aces&Eights. 2) A good, detailed, well-mapped setting in pike&musket era. 3) A detailed post-apoc setting that isn't zombies (tired of)...

Is it fun to plan a heist?

A GM exploiting plans with information the NPCs don't have is a very bad GM.

Is it fun to plan a heist?

Well, don't take hours, and don't base a plan on perfect rolls.

Is it fun to plan a heist?

Good way to lose PCs or even get a TPK at my table. The NPCs will have a plan, the quality of which is based on circumstance,

Is it fun to plan a heist?

So don't build a plan where a single skill failure can wreck things. That seems very obvious.

Is it fun to plan a heist?

Planning, like investigation, is the meat of the game. Working with finite time, limited information (dynamic lighting is a must), and only the gear they have to hand really sets the mood.

What games, currently, have your interest?

Running a Fading Suns campaign using Zweihander/Dark Astral, and next will be Tribe 8 setting, Aces & Eights rules.

    Roll20 Announces Discord Activity Integration

Excellent news! I use both, so that will be quite nice. I expect it will remain a Pro feature for GMing.

    Clues vs Downtime

I've never had any problem getting the players to take downtime. There's research to be done, stuff to sell, stuff to buy, investments to be checked upon, new investments to be made, and usually at least one is married, so they need to log some home life. If its fantasy, their mounts need some...

Character Weight & Height I What's your favourite implementation?

I let players choose their height, weight, hair color, eye color, hand dominant hand (not Ambi). Height & weight are used when PCs want to boost one another over/up a wall, crawl through narrow places, drag a comrade, and similar situations. It is not a huge issue, but such things are...

ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

I was thinking on this reply, and this is not what I would consider a FLGS. Or a game store. When I envision a game store, it is a storefront packed with a huge variety of RPG material, minis, bins of dice, etc, with small areas devoted to Osprey books, and occasional support for rockets or trains.

Social Encounters: Does it Matter What and How PCs Speak to NPCs?

I see it as defeating bad accents, improving time use, and supporting the fact that I don't want to do it Putting a category on the book wouldn't change anything, because I am inclined to change anything I want, and regard admonishments & advice from writer as (like setting fiction) as wasted...

    Good Modern Systems

EABA was already recommended, and I was impressed with the (free) Quick Start rules.

It doesn't appear to have any tactical depth, advanced weapon design, or any other features of interest.

ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

Physical retail shops are closing all over the country. Thirty years ago there were 8 or 10 FLGS within an easy drive of me. Today, there's zero.

    Good Modern Systems

I gave GURPs another look. I can't deny it, the system is robust and production values are high, but I just cannot go with it. It feels like they hired the same writers the IRS used.

    Good Modern Systems

I didn't say it wasn't. I specifically addressed your statement about the lethality mechanic. But its good you have the general publics interests at heart.
