Final Fantasy XIV Getting an Official TTRPG

I just hope this isn't a one-off for collectors. Supplements for additional classes and region guides would be much appreciated.

The Book of Dungeon Encounters has the exact same cover picture as Classic Fantasy (for Mythras):

Review of Twilight: 2000: You’re on Your Own, Good Luck

I would think that the situation in such a game would be similar to China in the 1920s: a bunch of warlords vying with each other for power. Btw, how does the game deal with the fact that the Soviets planned to use tactical nukes if there was a war in Europe? Simply ignore it?

RPG Crowdfunding News – Salvage Union, Slasher Zine, Webworld, and more

Yeah, I first thought it was a supplement for Star Wars.

    Cyberpunk Red: One Year Later

If I were to play in a Cyberpunk game I would probably totally subvert the genre by forming an overly cute Japanese boy band:

RPG Crowdfunding News – Mag of Holding, Between the Devil & the Deep, The Goblings, and more

Interesting that the Mag of Holding will include the wolpertinger. I don't know if this creature has ever been described in any D&D material before.

    Cyberpunk Red: One Year Later

    Well, I beg to differ.

    Cyberpunk Red: One Year Later

I think that inexpensive cybergear would be an environmental nightmare. If millions or even billions of people have such enhancements, the existing electronic waste problem would get a whole lot worse since there's no way all of the cyberware would be be recyclable and even if it were, it would...

    Cyberpunk Red: One Year Later

It just goes to show that our views on this matter completely differ.

    Cyberpunk Red: One Year Later

I didn't try to compare or combine Traveller and cyberpunk. I merely mentioned Traveller as an example of a sci-fi system that, because of its age, has a retro flavor.

    Cyberpunk Red: One Year Later

Although Traveller wasn't retro sci-fi when it was written it certainly is so today, even in its current edition. As for cyberpunk, it is also a child of its time, of course. Some of its conventions are downright quaint, especially given the comprehensive surveillance possibilities that exist...

    Cyberpunk Red: One Year Later

I feel that the entire Cyberpunk genre is a kind of "retro future". This isn't necessarily bad, since Traveller, for example, is basically retro sci-fi. A really hard sci-fi setting of how our future might realistically be like would probably make for a rather dull game. Mega infrastructure...

RPG Crowdfunding News – Rewards & Rarities, Traveller, Reach of the Roach God, and more

Reach of the Roach God certainly sounds interesting, since I'm a big fan of SE Asia.

D&D 5E Monte Cook Games' PLANEBREAKER Kickstarter Launches

5e is by its very nature so overpowered that settings such as this (as well as Spelljammer and Planescape) should be the default, not the Forgotten Realms.

D&D General Are Hit Points Meat? (Redux): D&D Co-Creator Saw Hit Points Very Differently

That's interesting because it seems to be a similar concept as in Savage Worlds.

D&D General Are Hit Points Meat? (Redux): D&D Co-Creator Saw Hit Points Very Differently

I would think that luck is represented by a character's saving throw. I find it very annoying that a high-levvel fighter can stand straight in the blast of an adult dragon's breath weapon and survive despite failing the saving throw. Not only that, but the character can then go on fighting...

RPG Crowdfunding News – Iron Kingdoms, Holler, Mutated Monsters, and more

If anyone is interested, there is also a movie about the "coal wars". It's called Matewan and is from 1987. James Earl Jones is in it too:
