remind me again which subclasses are the ones that multiple classes can take and at levels beyond 1-3 in addition to the base class's subclass? they are not the same thing, give us actual prestige classes in 5e.

did they? i was under the quite distinct impression that they used 'powers' which are a significantly differently designed structure of mechanics from 5e's 'spells' to me, saying 5e can use 'spells' because '4e did it' is like saying a rugby/american football helmet with the open grill face...

Honestly I think there already exists most of the tools a warlord needs to exist in 5e, they’re just scattered across various classes, like, paladin auras, healing word, bardic inspiration, protection/interception fighting styles, an appropriate selection from the BM manoeuvres, there are feats...

But it’s weird that I just so happen to know someone who lives there in basically every single location we visit right? It’s not that your character can go to London and know someone in the area, it’s that they can go to London, Paris, Belgium, New York, Toronto, Tokyo or even a space colony and...

I guess that means my rogue should start committing crimes and stealing from everyone including the party then, given its impossible to get those connotations away from the word that’s their class name too right?

im sure we could trim out enough spells for three pages of space for the warlord, and the game would probably be better for them being gone.

why do we need half the classes? sorcerer and warlock? we've got wizard! get rid of em! bard? just give a rogue a musical instrument! druid? nah, nature cleric's right there! just throw them all in the trash, our classes don't need nuance or distinct playstyles, get rid of all the spells and...

maybe a fraction of one, but it's not miles away from the truth it's really not that complicated, your suggestion is giving them the bones of the right abilities but it's massively lacking the proper scale and nuance for playing them, like i said, medicine, religion and magic initiate does not...

oh for sure, but i think it would be an interesting theorycraft, maybe poach some abilities from one of the classic subclasses or tune a few existing ones up, say upgrade rogue's stroke of luck to be an auto-crit rather than just auto-hit, that sort of thing.

despite people constantly making threads like this one and it appearing at the top result of most every 'what classes should we add to 5e' polls? yeah no, this would not be anywhere near an adequate solution for the people who actually want to play a proper warlord.

but the fighter class doesn't provide the capability to indulge that fantasy though, the aesthetic of 'fighter' is incredibly generic appearance wise but there are many ways to play one each with their own nuances.

i don't know if i want to spin this off into it's own thread, especially given how little i know about the specifics of 4e class structure, but i think it would be really interesting to try see and convert the four 5e martial class's abilites into AEDU structures for better resource...

i mean it's very different meanings if by 'there's always a chance of failure' they mean 'this isn't 100% guaranteed because there's a chance for any given attempt to fail, just because' or if it's 'this isn't 100% guaranteed because there may be extenuating circumstances to account for that...
