Why is anyone tagging Morrus in this thread? Based on descriptions of OP's issue, wouldn't he...not be able to see this thread? Or did I miss something?

    D&D (2024) WotC Fireside Chat: Revised 2024 Player’s Handbook

I think they explicitly mentioned that Brawler didn't make the cut in the video above. Around the time they're talking about the Psi Knight.

    D&D (2024) WotC Fireside Chat: Revised 2024 Player’s Handbook

Pretty sure I remember them saying the stuff left over from XGE and TCE that doesn't get plugged into a new core book will get republished in a standalone book (they could call it "Xanathar's and Tasha's Tasty Leftovers").

    D&D (2024) WotC Fireside Chat: Revised 2024 Player’s Handbook

I was wrong about the name being Ancestries, but they must not have been consistent in calling it anything besides Race prior to now, because it was even called Race in the 2022 Character Origins UA made in preparation for this exact book.

    D&D (2024) WotC Fireside Chat: Revised 2024 Player’s Handbook

Race is now called "Species" (wasn't it Ancestries or something in UA?). Interesting change. I know a lot of people advocated for that. (Also they're including more of them in the PHB this time.) EDIT: I was wrong about Ancestries.

WotC WotC President Cynthia Williams Resigns

It was clearly de-prioritized by management, as it's been delayed into oblivion despite being "done in a day or two"-tier easy (for 3 & 3.5e SRDs, anyway). One could argue the layoffs by management prevented it by way of loss of manpower, but I think that would only be an excuse for it and not...

WotC WotC President Cynthia Williams Resigns

Hopefully the new boss, whomever they are, will actually allow the older edition SRDs to go into Creative Commons.

Lightning 5e (ver. 0.25) - Some play impressions

And thank you for sharing it and tweaking it! I've been tinkering with some homebrewed add-ons and adjustments for it that I'm happy to share with everyone. I had some in the OP but since I haven't playtested any of them, I removed it. But in keeping with the spirit of an open...

Lightning 5e (ver. 0.25) - Some play impressions

Oh, that's a good catch (perceiving that Perception was missing, I mean). I wonder if he meant to have a bit about it in there as a WIS D20 Check or just leave it as a GM assumption. (I haven't handed out too many magic items yet in our campaign, and the ones I have were all homebrewed, so I...

Lightning 5e (ver. 0.25) - Some play impressions

A few months back, I switched my family's home game from the D&D 5e Basic Rules to Lightning 5e, an ultra-lite version of D&D 5e. The game—a work-in-progress overhaul of his 2-page game One-Sheet 5e—is written by Mike Shea / Sly Flourish. He posted the link to it in a Reddit thread in which he...

    List of Open Games

Bit of a passive-aggressive tone in there. My point is that there is no "THE creative commons" license, which is what you said it had. And if all anyone wants to do is legally share barebones rules PDFs on the internet, all of them accomplish that. For anything beyond that, those specifics matter.

    List of Open Games

There are in fact several Creative Commons licenses, and the difference really matters for anyone building off of them. I'm not a lawyer but this is my basic take on them. - CC-0 and CC-BY are by far the most generous: republish the original, or create derivative works. CC0 is effectively...

    List of Open Games

Miscellaneous CC open games/SRDs from my own personal notes. Some of these are tiny RPGs from itch.io and such. EDIT: Added links for most. A few are direct PDF links, most are to landing pages. Quest (Creator's Resource PDF) CC-BY-4 OpenQuest (RTFs) CC-BY-4 Dungeon World SRD CC-BY-3 Lightning...

D&D 5E Running a campaign for experienced players using the 5th ed. Basic Rules

Joke's on me: that's the same link as before, but I still can't get anything but an error to come up, even while logged in to my Roll20 account. Also, here I am ranting about how awesomely back-to-basics it is without multiclassing yet you allowed it, lol. I'll be in my big-mouth corner over...

D&D 5E Running a campaign for experienced players using the 5th ed. Basic Rules

Bumping this thread as the link is dead and I'm quite curious how this went for you, @S'mon . (Especially in light of the current thread about an SRD-only campaign.) Personally, I like the simplicity yet completeness of the 5e Basic Rules PDF. It's the full 20-level game for those four core...

    D&D (2024) Missing - 2024 Starter Set

That update was pushed out at the same time a bunch of core book errata was published. I found a video about it from back when Dragon+ was a thing. I just checked my copy of the 2018 Basic Rules PDF, and all the relevant Monster Manual errata and DMG errata were implemented. But I was curious...

D&D (2024) [+] Future of The SRD Speculation Thread

On a related note, what are our expectations for the printable PDF of the Basic Rules? Will that be further revised with tweaked core rules and revised Ancestry/Class rules or just left to whither as a "compatible on-boarding asset"? Or perhaps it'll just get deleted and forgotten once the rules...

D&D (2024) [+] Future of The SRD Speculation Thread

What I agree with mamba on is that WotC will not put older editions in CC, including 3e/3.5e. Kyle Brink said "Yeah, I don't see why not" when Ted (Nerd Immersion) asked him about creating SRDs for other older editions (including 4th), while noting that it would take a good bit of time and...
