Standing up from prone while invisible...AoO?

3.5 SRD says standing from prone does provoke. As for the question from TracerBullet42, I would allow the AoO [with 50% miss of course] only if the creature had successfully pinpointed the wizards location (scent or otherwise).

    Bringing common sense to AoOs

Only if you have combat reflexes. Otherwise your expected damage is the same against both. Normal attack (at 50%) = 2.25 plus one AoO (at 50%) = 2.25 gives 4.5

    Request for a monster sketch

WOW - how do you guys do this... Another great piece of work. Feel free to order up some antacid after this one. I hope you had as much fun as Miranda did working on hers. The PC's haven't gotten to him yet, but when they do I will be sure and let you all know how the encounter goes. I...

what does 'immune to magic' include?

Just out of curiosity and if you don't mind saying, what or who is it that is "immune to magic"?

Diplomacy +23 at 3rd level??? Help, my player must be wrong!!!

Sorry CapnZapp must have been posting at the same time I was. In any case, I would like to change my position to UNDECIDED based upon his/her post. Since each skill is listed as giving the +2 bonus, I would say there is a clear conflict in these two rules statements. However, I am leaning to...

Diplomacy +23 at 3rd level??? Help, my player must be wrong!!!

As nhl_1997 pointed out, Synergy: If you have 5 or more ranks in Bluff, Knowledge (nobility and royalty), or Sense Motive, you get a +2 bonus on Diplomacy checks. Based on this I would have to say the answer to your question is yes. Your player is wrong because of the "OR" in the sentence...

Putting me out of my misery ...

Altamont Ravenard, Thank you. If you pronounce it that way, then I am satisfied that this is correct. Also note the pronunciation given below: http://www.miriamwebster.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=coup+de+grace

Putting me out of my misery ...

O.K. Point taken. How about this one. I think it is more credible. http://www.miriamwebster.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=judgement

Putting me out of my misery ...

Actually in the silly, constantly changing English language, both spellings are accepted. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=judgment

Putting me out of my misery ...

I am no language expert, but I thought that this saying is French for "stroke of mercy". Coup = stroke or blow de = of grace = mercy If this is the case, then the French word for mercy is not pronounced with the silent -ce (again I am not an expert). Jeff, You sound like you know more about...

    Request for a monster sketch

I would again like to thank Miranda for the excellent monster art work (especially since she doesn't spend her time working on monsters). I would also like to invite any others to showcase their talent. Although Miranda's fine drawing may bias you, try and read the description and let your...

    Casting While Prone

What if the spell caster in question has an enemy that can take an AoO for casting the spell? In this case I think the spell casters AC is simply decreased by 4 Assuming the spell is cast defensively while prone, would the concentration check then be increased? In this case I might increase the...

    Request for a monster sketch

This is great (as I knew it would be). I especially like the heat effect. I really don't know how all of you artists get your talent, but I wish I had just some of it.

    Request for a monster sketch

Yeah, I thought our group needed a little in game comic relief. Don't forget that the day job is what we use to buy D&D stuff with (I'm saving for a projector); however, I anxiously await your creativity when you have the time... Edit: WOW! I just took a look at your gallery. You have some...

    Request for a monster sketch

I hope this does not violate any copyright protocal, but after downloading a fun little side adventure from wizards.com, I found myself in need of a sketch. The side adventure contains a new monster called a calzone golem (see full stats and description below). I wrote up a nice description...

    Speed of an arrow?

Nice Analysis I have to say I agree. We can not use real world explinations for D&D and I believe your rulings both legal (by the rules) and just (not TOO far off from the real world).

    Speed of an arrow?

As far as the speed of an arrow I usually say 200 - 250 feet per second depending on the type of bow, type of arrow and such. Here are two links that might help http://www.timberline-archery.com/arrow_speed.asp http://www.pinwheelsoftware.com/h-CalculateArrowVelocity.html

I think this has got it perfect. I also posted two questions about the grease saving throws and this agrees... Oh yeah, I also vote for not flammable
