    Peregrine's Nest: Who Goes First?

There are card-based initiative systems too. Savage Worlds uses that, and so do games like Aliens and Dragonbane so I am sure lots more people will get exposure to that mechanism. We really like card systems. If you play the cards face-up it is really easy to see who goes when, and it’s quick...

    D&D (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

Do we know if we still on for the 17th in the UK? I seem to recall hearing that there might be delay due to logistics, but I haven’t been keeping up on the details.

How Dragonbane Pointed out the Clashing Desires of My Gaming Group

A few different suggestions for you, @Retreater, coming from different directions. The main thing I would suggest is trying to split your time into combat stuff with the full group, and maybe 1-on-1 focussed role-playing just with the person who wants that style of game. That will hopefully...

Cosmere Overtakes Avatar Legends To Become Biggest TTRPG Kickstarter Ever!

Now it’s over $15m with late pledges.

Cosmere Overtakes Avatar Legends To Become Biggest TTRPG Kickstarter Ever!

Critical Role just did a cross over with Among Us so that tells me they have some serious brand awareness outside of hardcore TTRPGs. Probably not Brandon Sanderson levels but still some chops.

Cosmere Overtakes Avatar Legends To Become Biggest TTRPG Kickstarter Ever!

They’ve already picked up over $145k in late pledges since funding, too. That feature probably just paid for its own implementation…

    Dragonbane in Publix Commercial

What a wholesome and positive ad, promoting fandoms of every kind as equal. Now I just need to arrange being paid £50k per week as a professional role-player… ⚽️

Cosmere Overtakes Avatar Legends To Become Biggest TTRPG Kickstarter Ever!

There is a ‘late pledge’ feature which is active. I haven’t seen that before. They must have gotten fed up of people raising another $XXX dollars on backerkit after the initial campaign ended (and missing their cut of that).

Cosmere Overtakes Avatar Legends To Become Biggest TTRPG Kickstarter Ever!

It’s now the third highest Kickstarter ever! I’m not actually backing this campaign in the end, but watching it is pretty amazing.

Cosmere Overtakes Avatar Legends To Become Biggest TTRPG Kickstarter Ever!

This link shows the top 10 Kickstarters of all time, with real-time updates. At the time of posting Cosmere is at #5 and I think it could definitely edge-out Frosthaven before the campaign is complete. Which would ‘only’ require another $32k. Which is still more than many Kickstarters make in...

Cosmere Overtakes Avatar Legends To Become Biggest TTRPG Kickstarter Ever!

I think another factor which maybe differentiates this Kickstarter from some other big RPG crowd funding is that Brotherwise is an established company with other revenue streams and established operational systems. When a new or small company hits big that can disrupt all their other systems...

Cosmere Overtakes Avatar Legends To Become Biggest TTRPG Kickstarter Ever!

I’m specifically talking about the publishing strategy rather than the system itself.

Cosmere Overtakes Avatar Legends To Become Biggest TTRPG Kickstarter Ever!

It reminds me strongly of the FFG Star Wars RPG where there were three lines which were similar but different. They were fully stand alone but could be used together. The fact that some of the team previously worked on the FFG Star Wars game is probably no coincidence.

D&D General How long has your Current Group gamed together?

For my group, the longest-time member and I have been gaming together 40 years, the next two 35 years, two for 25 years and the newest member joined us about 10 years ago. A long term group is a joy and a privilege.

    What makes a TTRPG tactical?

To me, an RPG would count as tactical if it provided meaningful choices during a scene. In combat terms, the most basic tactics would be position and target selection, then going up to things like balancing attack and defence, broadly available manoeuvres (grappling or feints are a good...

Worlds of Design: What Did You Expect?

I have a cheat’s answer - I have a stable group who have been playing together for decades so we know each others preferences well. Many of them have become cliches or in-jokes by this point! On the other hand though, I am also planning to introduce some of my work colleagues to TTRPGs since...

WotC How new Wizards of the Coast head John Hight turned around World of Warcraft

I think that’s a good point and perhaps a way to directly apply the experience described in the article to D&D. Make Beyond and Sigil the best way to play any edition of D&D using a computer and you will boost your subscriber numbers, if that is what they are caring about. You wouldn’t need...

D&D Movie/TV Honor Among Thieves takes the Hugo for best long-form presentation

Across the Spider-Verse was also excellent, however Honor among Thieves was a fun film that treated the subject matter with irreverent respect so kudos to them on a win.
