Slaves of the Dragon (orsal judging)

ooc: velmont, I'm willing to handle this as an in character dispute, but effectively, out of character, there was no time for anyone to suggest alternate courses of action between you suggesting opales recognisance and playing it out.

OOC: I know, and it is purely IC that there is a dispute. After all, Farid told it was a good idea, and after that KO advance the things, I don't see why Opale should think she had done it only on her own.

The hubby and I broke the internet trying to integrate a new computer into the house network, so my access is going to be intermittent for a week or so. I am sincerely sorry for the lack of warning, and promise that things will be back on track just as soon as we smite the cable company. Please npc my character as needed.

And what is happening in Grenton now?

Preparations for abandonment, taking along what is still valuable.

(All questions asked and answered? Then I'd say let's move on, kill the remaining kobolds (who don't put up a fight), and get to the important bussiness in adventuring ;) - XP:

67 XP everyone for battle 1
267 XP everyone for battle 2
200 XP everyone RPing/Problem solving/Compensation for my spotty updates recently
500 XP everyone time XP

That's a total of 1034 XP for everyone, which should allow everyone to gain a level.

As always, if you do get a level, email Nimisgod and me.)

ooc: only remaining question would be to clarify if the slaves of grenton will be 'taken along' 'abandoned' or killed. that would determine whether we should rush back to grenton or seek out the dragon at his rendevous or lair....

knight otu: [sblock]also, katherine might want to keep "her" kobald. If so she would have it leave its armor and weapons behind and make it quite clear that if it joins in the fight it will be dead immediately, but if it guides katherine and stays out of trouble she will keep it around and feed and care for it. after level up, katherine's sense motive will be +10 and her diplomacy at least +13 (don't know if the synergy bonuses from sense motive and bluff stack) if she feels (from sense motive) that she has the creature sufficiently intimidated to behave while directly with it, she would bring it allong and use diplomacy to attempt a longer term attitude change based on her potential as a 'benevolent alpha'. If you think this is outside of mechanical or rp reason, Katherine can simply assess the kobald as "evil little vermin" as opposed to "potentially moldable minion" and move on. [/sblock]

It seems that, depending on the time left and on their usefulness, some slaves may be taken along. As for the rest, the kobolds don't really want witnesses... however, "your" kobold is not fully in the know what the emergency plan entails.

[sblock]The kobold, if he stays alive, has witnessed the killing of those who have surrendered, and has accepted that he'll die as soon as he is useless as well. He is by now certain that he is useless for you. It seems unlikely that he'll accept or believe your benevolence.[/sblock]

Seeing as the group is getting ready to leave, Veras-Re wraps up the weapons in a large, ragged cloth. He sheathes all the swords, so that they don't cut apart the fabric. Finally, he lashes them all together in one big bundle and sets it into his bulging backpack.

He stretches a little before wearing the heavy backpack and girding himself for the journey to come.

Where are we going?

"What about the dragon? We just got rid of 14 of his supporters. We had already decided to go after him before these guys showed up. It should be an easier fight now."

:\ fair enough.... dead kobalds all around.

"The kobalds are planning to 'clean house' in Grenton. We have to stop them, then hit the dragon in his lair. Apparently this isn't the only village he's enslaved, but its the one in imediate danger...." Katherine smiles a coldly. "On the bright side, I've got my second wind and then some. Lets get to the village - if we beat the cleanup crew there all to the better. But remember the people there are as like to blame us for making the kobalds mad as thank us for saving them. I can try to rally them, but I wouldn't count on them for any support."

ooc: if anyone in the party is lacking a ranged weapon, it looks from my sheet like katherine still has a spare crossbow. Also, just out of curiosity, is it possible to use a bardic music ability and oratory/diplomacy at the same time?

"Just don't hope for any pity from them... after what we just made, I don't think they will do it easy on us." adds Opale, obviously not liking what has just happen.
