Those were the Spriggans, if I recall correctly. I think they are in Monsters of Faerûn.

For the record, Eberron has only four new races: warforged (I'm certain everyone already knows about these guys by now considering all the discussion!), changelings, shifters, and kalashtar. As Teemu mentioned, no new subraces arguably besides the Umbragen, which is in Dragon (though... I suppose you could consider the different lizardfolk subraces too, but I think of them more as "monsters" than "races"). Deathless is actually a new type alongside undead, and the deathless that exist in ECS are listed in the monster entries.

Spriggans! Thank you! Are you sure it was Monsters of Faerun, though? I would have sworn it was more recent. Now I have to go look.
