Guarin of Orlebar is a fierce and proud warrior of the eastern mountains, a harsh and cruel country that has not known peace for the last century. His peculiar ways and strange customs, along with the tales told at the fireside, has not given him a warm welcome in these lands. He does not seem to care.

He is a big man, heavily muscled, but without an ounce of fat to spare. He has a sunbeaten, face with a nose that has been broken once too many. His pale-blue eyes look hard and stern at the world. He can hardly be called pretty by any standard. He keeps his black hair short-cropped, and tries to shave often when he isn't out in the wilds.

He is a Knight in the Order of Saint-Michael, trained more in warfare then in spiritual matters. They are often sent-out on missions by their order, and he has recently been sent to guard a priestess, who also happens to be his niece. The younger brother of his father ranged widely in his early days, and married a women from the soft lands in the valleys. She is the daughter of that wife's sister. While he was aware of her existence in a vague way, he hedn't seen her, or any of his relatives from this land, untill a few weeks back.

He is bound by duty and blood to keep her safe, and has vowed to protect her with his life.

Forissa considers all of the inhabitants of the village to
be her flock, and despite her youth treats everyone as a
mother would her children. Her cousin by marriage,
a Jarin knight named Guarin, recently arrived at the manor,
under somewhat unclear circumstances, but he has been a
tremendous help since he arrived, and Forissa is glad for his
presence here.

Forissa has recently been working with Myrel, the sister of
the Lord of the Manor, to help her deal with voices and
visions she has experienced in the past year. She has taken
the girl's apparent kidnapping hard and as somewhat of a
personal affront, and is determined to bring Myrel back, despite
the fact that Forissa lacks any truly germane skills which might
help her accomplish that noble deed.

[sblock=Tarren Mott]In the villages around the manors, when trouble comes and help is needed, one name springs to mind. Tarren Mott. Not that the villagers expect him to help, but they figure as he's the one causing the trouble in the first place.

His mother was a cousin of some sort to Lumin's father, a nice enough lady until she died in childbirth. His father never did a day's work in his life, a lazy sort, living off his wife's connections until he eventually drank himself to death a few years after his wife. Tarren was taken in as a ward of the manor.

Throughout his youth, Tarren was a trouble-maker. Petty theft, causing fights, shirking his lessons, no sense of responsibility. He was all set for following in his father's footsteps. He eventually alienated just about everyone he knew. Except Myrel, for whatever reason she never gave up on him. As a result, she is just about the only one who ever got to see his good side.
