What D&D scenario would make the best D&D movie?

Orc no like losing pie.
Ah. An art film. First half is the orc contemplating eating the pie.

"Me like pie. Want eat pie. But then no longer have pie. Me like pie..."

Then the second half is a long drawn out duel between a barbarian who enters the room on a quest for the pie.

"What is best in life?" "Pie." "Exactly. Now give me that pie." "No. My pie."

Oddly the first thing to come to mind is Tomb of Horrors. Dunno why, but it just seems that the inclusion of lots of action and mind games mixed with little combat (which tends to be good in small doses in movie land) seems like a good idea.

With a little expansion in the module of things going on, and twist it to be a Mystery/Horror Movie.

But then I thought that "The Cave" was a better D&D movie then the D&D movie :)
Next to Dragonlance, which I think will such from what I can gather on it so far;but don't get me started on that, I too think The Tomb of Horrors would make a great movie, but for different reasons than Dragonlance.

Dragonlance would be great as a full length epic, live action, movie along the line of Lord of the Rings. If you got Peter Jackson and the right cast, that movie would rock like there is no tomorrow. Unfortunately, I think it will blow the way ot looks now. But I will hold out hope for the future.

Anyway, The Tomb of Horrors would make a great Horror movie. The Return to the Tomb of Horrors would be a great logical sequal and then of course Hollywood would go too far and make, The Tomb of Horrors 3 in 3D: Demi liches do Vegas.

Getting into Dungeon modules, because there's a lot of good work there, the Age of Worms would make a pretty good trilogy. Play up the plot, minimize the dungeon crawling. And the Styes by Richard Pett would make a great dark fantasy film. It even has a sequel already!

Demiurge out.

Rocco,

Hey man if it can have the graphics of say Karas and/or Ghost in the Shell (the TV show, not the movie) I'm all for it. At the moment a live action version just doesn't seem feasible since not every studio out there could afford to pay for a PJ production budget.

I'd kind of like to see the Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil done in movie form, minus the Getting There part (those who have been though it, you know what I mean; for those who haven't, Getting There Is Not Half The Fun).

Better, I'd like to see the same movie in a Knights of the Dinner Table/"The Gamers" format. Action/Comedy, and have players who have been through the dungeon submit their own amusing tales, "sound bites" such as in-character quotes, party compositions, and other weirdness to try and compile into one lovely film.

I think the Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy would make a great 3-part epic, like LotR. I'm glad they're finally doing something, and I hope the animated movie is great (and I will be going to see it), but I would have preferred a live-action/CGI mix.

As far as the Drizzt novels were concerned, I've said for years that the whole saga would make a great television show with hour-long episodes. You would already have 10 seasons worth written for you!

NG's Wizard's Amulet/Crucible of Freya would be a nice one for a movie. Be just the right length IMO with just enough in there to keep both a gamer audience and a non-gamer audience interested.

I would agree, potential for lots of great visuals, plus Greyhawk is generic enough for a general audience to grasp, "Who's that guy?" "He's the wizard." "Ooooh."

Bring on the good D&D movies!
