Thirst for power (Finished) (Knight Otu judging)

On the way back to the house, Draig turns to the guard, remembering the bodies they have left. "There are two men, unconcious but alive in the back of the cart outside of the warehouse. Could you secure them for us - they may be needed for questioning?

Draig savours the food prepared for them, appreciative of the servants efforts, having been draged out of bed.

In the meeting, Draig gives a cursory look around the room to see who is present. and is somewhat suprised to see Wuld and Ochen. "Well... unfortunately you're wrong.

We found out of the attack, and endeavoured to thwart it, but many guards lost their lives, both among the city guard and Koplov's warehouse security. We could not stop the theft of Utfir and ivory, and the attackers set fire to the warehouse.

I am afraid we have been largely unsuccessful. I don't know that we have a definate name of someone who is running the show and the power behind Idraig, although I do have some suspicions.

"Sure. It's been doing right now"

"Oh. I'm sure you won't mind a reduction of your wages, then." jokes the tall merchant. "Though you do credit yourselves less than you should; you made them flee with only a small part of the loot: they could have stolen much more, and the fire could be controlled quite quickly and it did little harm. The loss of the men is unfortunate, certainly" he says with the tone of voice of who is saying what's socially expected "But it's not your fault, and certainly wasn't your job. We have now ample evidence of Idrag's involvement: those guys you caught alive were his most trusted men. The wizard is Etan's personal mage, and has already confessed. Even the wagon captured is property of Etan. The case is quite clear; Etan was behind Idrag and he orchestrated the lighthouse sabotage months ago. Reason? Pure greed, I think. There's no need to look for other motives, since this one explains it all quite well."

"We're working already to secure the situation and remove Idrag from his position. Tomorow, things will become normal again and we'll have the promised money available."

At Draig's words, Beamer opens his mouth to mention Nairb, but finds that his employer has done so himself. "It may be worth checking Nairb for magical compulsion of some kind. I can do so myself if you wish. He displayed himself so openly during the attack that it almost seems to easy. Though perhap Etan's treachery was not entirely unexpected?"

"You think? Do as you wish. Though we've confirmed what he said with Idrag's men, so i have lttle doubt."

"So... is this mission concluded, then? The original scope was to provide sufficient evidence to act against Idrag."

"Idrag and whoever was behind him, don't forget. But yes, I think you're done here"

ooc: XP time:

Draig and banion levels get 1350 XP
Beamer get 1200 XP

Time XP roughly one month since last time awards: Draig 100 xp, Banion 150 xp, Beamer 200 xp.

Don't rush to the red dragon inn looking for new jobs. We still have to tie a couple loose ends ;)

Draig nods. "Well I'm glad you think we've done enough here," he says. "I sure do hope you can sort out Idraig and this Etan, they seem right scoundrels."

"I guess we'll be taking our money and heading back to Orussus then."

When the chance arises, Beamer will cast detect magic on Nairb, concentrating long enough to try to identify the schools of magic that may be present on him.

"It does appear the original terms of our contract are completed. Would you like to extend the contract? We could certainly help in the apprehension of Idrag and Etan, though regrettably the battle at the warehouse took a great deal of my energy and I would require several hours rest before I would be of much value."

OOC: Thanks for the adventure, Someone. Nice mix of action and mystery.
