D&D 4E 4e Iconics?

What do you suppose the Iconic characters are going to be?

Based on the concept art, I'd say there's at least a Halfling Cleric being considered to be an iconic character.

So here's my guess (presuming the classes aren't changing):

Halfling Cleric
Human Wizard
Half-Orc Druid
Gnome Fighter
Elven Rogue
Half-Elf Bard
Warforged?/Orc?/Human Barbarian
Kobold?/Halfling Monk
Gnome/Kobold? Sorceror

Eh. I hope he isn't an iconic tiefling.

It's a cool pic, but IMO he looks like a half-fiend fighter with a pair of githyanki silver swords. Tieflings should look near-human, not have horns that a pit fiend would envy, and iconics should have equipment that's iconic for D&D, which would, in a perfect world, mean mostly real world (inspired) stuff, not wobbly swords of molten metal.

How the heck did tieflings get worthy of "iconic" status anyway? They're even more of a fringe critter than gnomes in my experience.

What's next, bullywugs as a core race?

-The Gneech

I am betting the the a tiefling without a level adjustment would be extremely popular as a player race.

But you guys are so wrong. That is neither a tiefling, nor a half-fiend. It is a half-dragon, or some derivative thereof.

I suspect we'll see the 4 sketches at the top of the placeholder page:

Dwarf Fighter
Human Cleric
Tiefling Mage
Elf Rogue

I'm betting the iconic cleric is a halfling.

I believe that the character in question *is* a half-dragon, and that the filename at InQuest was erroneously labelled: "Tieflingfighter.jpg"

Probably an easy mistake for the web guy to make, as the addition of Teiflings into the core book was mentioned in the article.

edit: IF, on the other hand, this is the 4e version of the Tiefling? Holy crap that's made of win and awesome.

No, it's made of win and awesome if this is a half-dragon (as I'm now inclined to believe), and tiefling arts succesfully conveys something almost human, but with "a shadow of knife-edge in their face, a little too much fire in their eyes, a scent of ash in their presence". :)
