The Ninth Gate?
*Shiver*
I still remeber the agony of trying to sit through that movie. I've never played COC before, but I really hope its not built on a basis similiar to this movie.

Ghostbusters. Seriously.

On another note, I'm going to have to agree that "In the Mouth of Madness" is a must-see. That movie is so good, I thought Lovecraft filmed it!

I was referring to "To cast a deadly spell". Thanks Angelsboi.
I haven't seen that movie since it came out.

There was an episode of, ugh, why can't I ever remember these things:(. It was a Twilight Zoneish thing with Rod Serling, before Twilight Zone I think, that was crafted from one of Lovecraft's stories. Something to do with a painter and a ghoul. I vaguely remember, but maybe I can jog someone elses memory.

Looks like I'm gonna have to go brush up on my Lovecraft.

thanks for the correction omokage.

the Twilight Zone before the Twilight Zone (with Rod Serling) was the Night Gallery.

God why am i cursed with useless facts!

Not to be disrespectful, but the fact is even more useless because Night Gallery came years after Twilight Zone.

The Night Gallery actually had several Lovecraft adaptions. Cool Air and Pickman's Model.... as well as lighter piece called Professor Peabody's Last Lecture... in which Carl Reiner mocks the old ones (mentioning them by name) during a class lecture. Even shouting out HASTER several times.... A storm moves in blowing out the class room windows..... eventually the blasphemis professor is turned into a deep one.... Its actually a very cool piece...

Serling as a whole seemed to have a strong affinity towards Lovecraft... Cool Air and Pickman's Model are excellent adaptations... I think the series is currently running on the mystery channel and has (i Think) been released on DVD.

In general, Serling's work has more than a hint of Lovecraftian influence. I don't know if he read HPL, but it seems like he probably did.

There's a Mystery Channel now?

The story with an artist and a ghoul is called 'Pickman's Model" and is IMO one of Lovecraft's best.

If one just wants movies with elements of Lovecraftian thought in it, there are many that could be named.

"The Mummy" (new edition) for instance features an allpowerful entity and help from an ancient book. This would make a pretty good basis for a good CoC adventure in my opinion.

John Carpenter's "The Thing" has some Lovecraftian elements in it as well. An ancient evil buried for eons on the frozen continent. The heroes all die and/or go insane. Though its not a favorite of mine, Carpenter's "Prince of Darkness" can also be accused of being Lovecraftian in nature.

I recently watched The Dunwhich Horror on DVD.. old 70s flick but it followed the lovecrafts story pretty well. Even used Yog Sothoth in it =P Yea In the Mouth of Madness was awsome.

What was The Wickerman about? Ive seen the box at the local video store but it didnt look all that pleasing
