New Show on UPN

If you like the Alias line of shows, you should check out the new show coming out on UPn called Veronica Mars. Its the same type of thing but made for a younger crowd of teenagers. If your interested I saw someone post some info about how to see clips of the show from an internal UPN source. The URL was:
http://www.upn.com/asset_exchange/vid_appr_silv/veronica_mars/

and I believe the Username was silver2, and the pw: vmars. Anyways check it out. I liked the clip with Paris Hilton in it.

"Alias line"? It's more of a Nancy Drew type of detective series.

Well you had my attention when you said Alias, but now I see Nancy Drew comments. It was under my radar but maybe I'll try to catch an episode to see the truth.

As much as I am not interested in the subject matter of this series, I have to say that they have certainly tied some quality talent to it.

As a Yale Alum, Enrico Colantoni is definitely up to the challenge of a weekly series. Though best known for comedy (Just Shoot Me!, Galaxy Quest), this should be a good move for him. I'm guessing that behind the scenes, and on the set of the show, he'll be "the anchor" for this primarily young cast.

Kristen Bell is a 24 year old who is playing much younger, and I think she'll get away with it well enough. Her turn on Deadwood as a child con artist was rock solid.

I won't be watching the show but I will be interested to see how well it does. If the writing proves to be as strong as the other elements, this might well be one of the most intelligent shows targeting a teen audience on the air. I'm tempted to watch just to encourage more of this kind of programming.

It is the Nancy Drew idea done with modern sensibilities. There is a long term mystery and some nice setups of factions in the school and town. Veronica is still the smart, cute girl who would get along with everyone except for the mysterious death of her best friend and her dad, the ex-sheriff, had accused the best friend's Dad of having done it. Hmmm. She is a sneaky, lying schemer and so far she has been right on the money.

I'm liking it.
