Crothian

First Post
I have no written 200 reviews with this account. That's a lot and so I thought it would be fun to look at the 5 star reviews I have given over the past few years. Granted this might be a definition of the word fun that you were previously unaware of, but since most of my reivews are about lesser known PDF products I feel it would be cool to highlight them again.

Nightmares of Mine

Temple Quarter: A City Quarters Sourcebook

MEG: The Pantheon and Pagan Faiths

The Immortal: Vampires

SG-1 First Steps: The Stargate Unexplored Worlds Sourcebook

Guardians of the Underhalls

Blue Rose (PDF)

SHOWBIZ: Pre-Game (d20 Future)

Secrets of Theurgy

E.N.Arsenal - Spiked Chain

The Quintessential Aristocrat

SRD 3.5 Revised (Full) Bundle

Book of Templates: Deluxe Edition

Dweomercraft: Familiars

A Magical Society: Ecology and Culture

Dice and Dramatics

Darklore Campaign Primer

Joe's Book of Enchantment

Bluffside City on the Edge (pdf)

Tournaments, Fairs & Taverns

then there are the 5 star reviews I've done on my other account:

Arms and Armor 3.5

Monster Handbook

Lots of reviews, lots of really good bnooks that I feel people should be aware of

You are welcome, hopefully this will be of some use to people. Some of the titles are a few years old so a good chance to find a book that one may have missed or not been aware about for a while.

Which three products would you say you use the most? When you reviewed them did you give them 5 stars?

The ones I use the most are the core books and I've never reviewed them. I tend to use books more but I mostly review PDFs so a good number of the books I use the most I never review.

Now I use Arcana Evolved and Star Gate quite a bit since I'm running a Stargate game and playing in an Arcana Evolved game. None of the game I'm in at the moment though allow me to really use a wide variety of books. Both of those two are rather limited in what can works with them. I'm also running a Paranioa game, and playing in a Forgotten Realms game but the DM won't allow me to use books that are not WotC.

Nightmares of Mine will get use as I use bits and pieces of it to incorperate a little horror in my games. I'm not doing any horror onlt campaigns but I do like to have adventures that have horror elements in it.

Blue Rose is a game I played once and really want to run something in it but right now time is against that.

Are there any of your 5 star reviews that, now with the test of time, you would change your rating? You know, "Well, it was certainly a 5 start book back in its day, but today ..."

That is very possible. Not only has the time3s changed, quality of gbooks mostly improved, but my reviewing standards have also risen a bit. However, most of the books I have given 5 stars to are books that cover topics no one really has. Bluffside is still a great city book even though we have gotten a few new cities Bluffside is still the best I've seen for d20. We've never gotten a book on role playing like Dice and Dramtics, or books on Tournaments, Fairs & Taverns, or Familars or Ecology and Culture.

So, in looking over the list and thinking about it, I don't think I'd reduce the rating of any of these.

Ahh Crothian you wound me man. My wife and I have just agreed to alter our spending habits and start putting more money away. She agreed that she now has more beads than god, and I have hundreds of game books that I need to actually read so we are halting our purchases and switching our priorities. Having you tantalize me with this list is like pouring honey on the nose of a dieting bear. ;)
