It all started on a warm summer evening on the thirteenth day of Kythorn, in the South Ward of Waterdeep.

It started in a room on the second story of The Epic; a lively feast hall and inn known for its friendly nature and dazzling entertainment.

It started with the rift...

Voadam's second blast of eldritch destruction washed over the Bane demon harmlessly. "Time to switch tactics." the wizard thought to himself as the fiendish bard scrambled to read the scroll that would allow him to see his invisible hunter.

Unfortunately at that moment the Menhirs surrounding the village flared to life as the demon's Warlock partner activated another ritual and caused a massive surge of magical energy to flood the circle created by the ancient druidic boundary stones.

Anchored as he was through a temporary ley line to the druidic Water Shard Voadam saw the magical energies overlap and catastrophically interrupt each other. The very fabric of magical space and time ripped opening a black hole centered on him and his magics.

"No!" Voadam screamed as he felt himself sucked into the dimensional rift.

The demon Brok completed his incantation just in time for the divination magic to create a connection to the invisible Voadam.

Voadam saw his familiar and the demon both sucked in with him but then they were cast aside in the inky blackness. Voadam felt power run out of his being as he tried desperately to direct himself someplace safe, some place he could build again.

Medowbrook: Half-Nymph/Female (Bard)

Meadowbrook, who had been changing for her second of three nightly performance at her father inn The Epic, yelped at the loud crashing, it had come from the other side of her bedroom and had been a total surprise. Her clothes still in disarray, her skirt was on but she was topless, Meadowbrook went to investigate the noise but she had a good idea of what she would find. Midnight, one of the family’s cats, had the habit of sleeping on her books, something that bothered the half nymph because about once a week the stack of books gave way and books and cat was tossed to the floor… So far and luckily, neither cat nor any truly important volumes had been hurt.

“Midnight, what have I told you about sleeping on my books?” the half nymph lovingly scolded the cat before she even got to the mess, in fact, she had even expected to her the cat’s nosy meow in reply when her violet eyes feel upon the nearly naked man…

This was obviously more of a surprise than the crash had been and Meadowbrook acted as such as she covered up her curvaceous body and screamed at the top of her lungs, in a very loud and impressive manner, as she ran to the other side of the room and grabbed at her top…

Groaning as he regained his feet after the rift dumped him onto a pile of books Voadam was momentarily stunned by the beautiful topless violet-eyed woman who came into the room. When she began to scream at an ear splitting level Voadam gathered himself quickly. "Idunn's golden apples woman stop screaming! I'm not here to harm you, I'm a white wizard and I need your help. You speaking common or dansk or whatever the language is called on this world but that's a start. Calm yourself, I'm not here to attack you or take any of your things."

Voadam holds up his open hands showing they are empty of weapons. "Why don't we start with names. I am Voadam, called the Traveller."

“I wasn’t screaming,” Meadowbrook says defensively over her shoulder, she makes no effort to hide the graceful and very feminine curves of her side and back from the strange man, as she wiggles into the tight fitting top for her upcoming performance, “and I am calm. If I thought you were here to harm me I wouldn’t be worrying about dressing in front of you… I would be out my bedroom door and calling for the guards, which are just downstairs so you best behave yourself, traveler.”

She turns elegantly, her skirt flows in a equally elegant manner, and moves back to him. Her attractive features suggest she expects truthful and thoughtful answers to her questions, “so ‘Voadam the Traveler’ what are you doing on Faerûn, more exactly why are you in Waterdeep, and most importantly why are you in my bedchamber asking for my help? Dansk isn’t very close and, well, you’re not how I would imagine you to be based upon your descriptions, Traveler.”

"Waterdeep? So Toril? Good, good. That's a good start. Beats the Abyss or Nightmare. And I did leave that hoard here. How have you heard me described? In ornate robes of white with thundering staff and glowing sword? An inhuman crew of a sea-monster vessel at my command?" He smiles at the thought.

"To answer your question a confrontation with a demonic cabal cast me here across the ether of the multiverse. In a prior encounter with them I barely escaped with my spellbook and my life after betrayal and capture."

He holds up his wrists where you can see the recently healed impressions of bindings that bit into his flesh.

"You did not give me your name. As I said before, I am Voadam, and it is my pleasure to make your aquaintance."

“You’re right, Voadam, I did not give my name and the pleasure is indeed yours,” Meadowbrook smiled in a controlling flirtatious manner but her tone was friendly and teasing, “as for your description… Lets leave it simply that you where much better dressed…”

As if her admittance caused her to give thought Meadowbrook offered a nearby blanket to cover up as she continued to gain as much information as she could, “I am sorry to hear of your struggles, Voadam,” and it was true as she frowned at his healed over wounds, “but you still haven’t said of how I can aid you and rather or not landing heading first into my bedchamber was accidental or on purpose?”

"A woman of mystery then, eh?" Voadam smiles at the beautiful unnamed woman. "I have rifted within Toril before, the Azuthian scholars I spoke to about it attributed it to wild magic left over from the Time of Troubles, though I have also experienced such things on other worlds when the fabric of magic has been tampered with through powerful rituals. In my time on the world of Segmenta dealing with Chaos the magical theorists there posited that Chaos can be directed and shaped by the exertions of the directed and focused will. The current rift was not of my making nor of my control. Never before have they ripped magic from my being, though that may be a consequence of the Warlock's involvement, a massive uncontrolled enhancement of his pain dispelling magics.

"In any case I felt myself cast towards demonic planes and expended efforts to drive against the current towards someplace comparatively safe as I felt my magic being ripped from my soul. I ended up here. Whether it was my will that directed me here or the swirling flows of Fate I cannot say. However after my struggles with the cabal I am without even the clothes that were on my back. After this rift I do not even have my familiar. Although I don't know if he emerged yet or is still in the vastness of time, I don't feel the rip in my soul that would indicate he is dead. I must pick up the pieces of my life and start anew on fair green Toril. I must build back what was lost and continue on.

This I can do. It is good to be alive and hale here in the bedroom of a beautiful woman of mystery. I remember Waterdeep as a city full of opportunities both above, below, and beyond with a wide world outside its gates. So yes the pleasure is mine
." and Voadam smiles broadly at the woman, his optimism and good cheer bordering on exultation at having survived a harrowing experience evident.
